One of my cats has delegated herself the tattletale cat.
It's always at night when we hear her deep throated meow - unlike her everyday meow.

She has decided something is out of place and needs to be brought to our attention. She will meow and drop whatever it is that is bothering her next to our bed.

Her favorite things to tattle about are my husbands socks when he leaves them on the bathroom counter for use the next morning.
She also has a thing for the paper that has been shredded in the paper shredder. Sometimes it's just anything random.

We had another cat that did this years ago. We think it is hilarious.

Is this something anyone else's cat has done?

What other strange things do your animals do?

My cat meows with a ball in her mouth.

Its a soft, knit ball. When I leave, or THINKS I left, she will carry the ball in her mouth and meow loud meows, like a howl, looking for "mommy." She will walk around doing this. When she sees me, she will drop the "mommy ball" and be happy. She's the only cat I've ever had that did anything like this.

use her paws to "knead" at me. She will push, push, push, and sometimes, her claws will come out...OUCH! I think this is her way of showing love...

Okay, just found this thread. Love it!!

I have two cats whom are VERY different from each other. They both LOVE the bath tub though. (yes, when it has water in it!) They cry at the door if I shut them out while taking a bath. They have hopped into the tub, the older one wiht me and the younger one with my kids. We have to leave the toilet seats closed as they both love to play in the water. They make a water fountain with the toilet and boy does that water fly! Unfortunatly it also wets the seat, not a nice surpise when you sit down!;)

My cat drives me crazy, because he will meow at his FULL food dish. I have to either:

A) Dump the food and refill it
B) Just add a little more food
C) Push him into his food bowl

I never know which of the 3 options is going to work, but if I don't do one or all, he will meow until the end of time.

My first post ever...

YES!! My Sophie does this...with the socks and throat meowing. She always has...I call it her "freak out" time. It's usually late at night, when I am sleeping/trying to sleep and I'll hear it from the kitchen, the bathroom, wherever she wishes to drop the sock. She'll get it from my dirty laundry, or fresh laundry. Never anything but socks. She also does this when I'm not home, because I'll walk in my apartment to find socks throughout the living room and kitchen, mostly. I have neighbors to one side of me, and underneath me...so I wonder if they hear her (they must..thin walls) and what they think of it. It's a very sad sound...

Also "freak out" time includes her attacking NOTHING...just the walls and doors. It's never anything on the carpet, but she'll do a couple laps around the entire apartment, and then throw herself up a wall. She's a plus size cat (weighing in at 20 pounds) and it makes QUITE the noise. I'm a heavy sleeper, and this sometimes wakes me up...

My poor neighbors...

We had a cat who would fetch balls. We bought the 4 packs of foam balls and she would only play with the green ones. I swear, and I thought they were supposed to be color blind. We bought a lot of packages to get the green ones. She would drop it at your feet and wait for it to be thrown again. At night she would walk around the house with the ball in her mouth meowing loudly. We had to put the ball away in order to get any sleep.

Now we have a black cat, Spooky, who will come and meow only to me when there is something that needs fixed. I have to get up and follow him, he looks back to make sure I am there. Usually the food dish is low, the litter box needs attention or the dog has slobbered up the water dish too much. Once in a while I can't figure out what he wants. Drives me nuts at times.

We have a dog who used to carry our shoes from room to room. He would go into the bedrooms, pick up a shoe and trade it in the next bedroom. In the morning the kids would have to hunt for their shoes. Now he is older, he seems to have given it up.

Welcome to the Dis Stellastar!

I love crazy pet stories! They always make me smile :teeth:

And thanks for the welcome, RNMOM -- I think I'm gonna like it here!!

My cat does the same thing, except it's usually one of the kids marbles. She'll meow/howl and then drop it at my feet, it's her way of telling me she wants to play 'fetch'. Yes, she actually fetches the marble and brings it back to me and drops it in my hand. I've never seen a cat play fetch. When she wa younger I would wake up in the morning and there would be cat toys next to my head on the pillow, she wanted to play fetch but I was sleeping. Weird, huh?

My cat will only do this in the middle of the night while carrying a toy mouse into the bedroom.

I guess she wants us all to be nocturnal like her.

Welcome StellaStar.
These examples are just some of the reasons I just love animals!!!

My cat likes to sleep with my oldest daughter, so if her bedroom door is closed she will come in and bother us... and carry on and bother DW when she is getting ready for work...

My cat will bring his toys to me and drop them in my lap and meow if he's decided he wants to play. If I try to take the easy way out by just throwing it across the room to make him go away, he'll go fetch it and drop it back in my lap and start meowing again.

It's just so pitiful I give in every time. :teeth:
