Now that we've found out that all of the players are sold out, how many of you out there that have already ordered in the past week have received shippping confirmation? I ordered mine five days ago and I received confirmation of my order but no shipping confirmation.

I'm just hoping I got in my order in time.

Anyone out there get a ship confirmation in the past few days?

I unlocked/ordered mine on December 2 (about a day or so before they officially shut down the orders) -- got the order confirmation, but no shipping/billing to my credit card, as of yet.

In DMR's defense, it does say allow 6-8 weeks for delivery (which leads me to believe they are using a third-party contractor to fulfill these orders).

For those who have already ordered and got their Blu-ray players delivered to them, how long did the whole process actually take?

I placed my order Dec 1st and I'm still waiting for ship confirmation

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize they had sold out.

I ordered ours 11/28, and have not received the shipping confirmation yet.

Posts on another thread said it only took about 10 days, but that was before Thanksgiving.

I'm excited, I just checked my email and it also says my player has been shipped as of today. How long will it take for it to arrive, does anyone know? I'm hoping to give it to my oldest son for Christmas.

I ordered mine on Nov.30, but in the email they sent me it said I ordered on Dec.1 I am stilling waiting too, for them to send me another email saying it has been shipped. I hope they send me an email sometime this week, otherwise I think I might give them a call( just to check on it). It's just for me, so it's not like I need it for Christmas. It's a Christmas Present to myself! LOL:goodvibes

For those still following this thread, let us know as these start arriving (as I don't like the idea of a new Blu-ray player sitting unattended at my doorstep).

** UPDATE ** mine arrived via UPS on Monday (it took 2 business days) and yes, it sat unattended on my doorstep -- don't forget to look for your enclosed code for 50 extra DMR points!

Received my Blu Ray Player today, UPS just dropped it off. Now my son will have his gift in plenty of time, the player is a Christmas gift.

I placed my order Dec 1st.

Mine arrived Monday also. UPS kindly left it where the melting snow was pouring off the roof, and the box was soaked.

I hooked mine-up, the evening it arrived -- as a current owner of two Sony Blu-ray players, I had certain expectations of this player (which were met -- and exceeded!).

As for looks, it's very slim -- about the same size of many DVD players.

Also, remember, this player also does streaming of lots of different internet-based video services such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Video on Demand. If you plan to take advantage of those, make sure you register at their websites (and also to register your Blu-ray player with Sony).

If you plan on hooking it up to your HDTV, make sure you do two things to get the very best picture for your Blu-ray movies:

  • Get an HDMI cable -- normally, I buy mine at Monoprice.com , which, combined with 2-day shipping ($11.85), will still be less expensive than the one on sale at Target, this week for $19.99. If you are also in need of network cables, you can get them from Monoprice, as well!
  • Make use of the HDTV picture calibration software (Disney provides this for free in all of their Pixar Blu-ray movie sets)
Enjoy!
