Yes i get it. The lactose free was brought up later.

My point was that they should not call it ice cream because its not.

As soon as they call it ice cream there is no reason to read the ingredients. Because ice cream is ice cream not soft serve frozen confection or other words manufactures have to use, by law, when its not ice cream.

Well they also shouldn't say you're going to have a "magical" day, because technically it isn't magic any more than Dole Whip is ice cream.

Disney is not doing anything illegal. There are no labeling laws to be enforced at theme park concessions.

Get over it.

Oh don't make me post the regs for what is is isn't Ice Cream.

It will make your head spin.

Also if there are no regs, why don't they call it ice cream at the stand. Why doesn't DQ call their product ice cream?

And I'm not not going to get over it, where's my congressman's email address, how do I contact the Supreme Court.

I never said I was mad or upset in anyway, other posters have put that spin on this thread.

I just thought it was interesting that on the Disney Website they are calling a product ice cream that BY LAW is not ice cream. Other companies, like DQ or TCBY, have to make sure they don't call their products ice cream.

Yes, many restaurants at Disney serve ice cream (it's often Edy's brand ice cream.) The "Dole Whip" is not ice cream...it's a frozen confection made of lots of non-milk/non-cream ingredients. Tasty. But not ice cream.

As for serving ice cream. I think everywhere else its ice cream.

I can't think of anywhere else they serve a soft serve product like Dope Whip.

I do trademark/copyright law for a living, and that includes labeling laws, so I assure you I am far more knowledgeable than you are on this subject.

Disney is breaking no laws. Labeling laws would only apply if there were multiple locations. How many varies by state, some states require 5, others maybe 100. Since there is only one location, no labeling laws apply. End of story.

If you have an Ice Cream Maker and around $22, you can buy the mix from the website quoted above.

The bag they send you will make about 72 4oz servings. Its not quite the same, it seemed to come out too creamy. I know that doesn't seem like its bad thing, but it gave it a different mouth feel.

What you would really need is a home, OK I'm going to say it one more time, soft serve machine.

Also if you make the float, don't buy the canned juice but the frozen concentrate.

We can't have it. I think it tastes like what pineapple flavored melted plastic must taste like, and we discovered that *corn syrup solids* are also a problem with DS and DH after they both had their nasty (and opposite) reactions to the Dole Whips they were enjoying.

I've never tried to imagine what pineapple flavoured melted plastic would taste like. Strange comparison.
