We just bought our tickets, so it's official! We're a family of Disney fanatics. Two years ago, we decided the kids were old enough to really enjoy UO/IOA. Thanks to lots of advice from these boards, we had a blast. We'll be in Orlando for 3 days after our cruise, so we gave the kids the choice between WDW or Universal, and they chose Universal. We're planning to stay at the Royal Pacific again, hoping for a AAA discount. I know we're going to have another great trip!

Welcome to the dark side! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm sure you'll have a great time. :thumbsup2

Thanks for letting us know! Sometimes I wonder if all the questions we answer over here are in vain. If we know that at least one family had a good time, it makes it all worth it.

It's definitely appreciated! Plus, you guys seem to have a good time on the "Dark Side"!

The dark side gets to apply all their park admission savings towards shows, food and accomodations. ;)

Speaking of park admission savings, I saw the thread about the $79.99 tickets, so I already bought them for the 5 of us!

Hate to break it to you, but it sounds like you're a Universal family who goes to WDW. :rotfl:

coming all the way from Scotland ,we would never dream of being in Orlando and not doing Universal and Islands.

We are Disney mad and that is where we spend most of our time but we love these parks.

DS is a tall 7 and the Hulk is the only ride in Florida he has not done . He cant wait to go back in 09 and im sure it will be day 2 trip...day one is MK and that will never change. :thumbsup2

I'm sure we'll still do both, but I was actually glad that they picked Universal for this part of our vacation. And I can guarantee we'll be back down when the Harry Potter section of IOA opens!

I think that's the smart thing to do. Why would one want to limit their options, when both resorts are so great? We (more like I) enjoy both WDW & UO. We do go to Universal much more often, because my DH thinks that a real vacation & my DS prefers it. That doesn't mean we won't go to WDW occasionally too though. There's enough of me to go around.

We have been to Disney World 3 times in the last 4 years. My kids are 11, 9 and 5 and I'm a Disney fanatic.

This trip, my wife wanted some beach time so we are going to St. Augustine to just relax for 4 days. But, I needed the thrill rides on vacation and figured I would spend 3 days at Universal for the first time. We are staying on site. If we plan 3 full days and 1 half day, is that enough time to enjoy the hotel and both parks? :confused3 This will be our first family trip to US. We are going the 2nd week of June, so I'm hoping extra time to take it easy and go with the flow.

Thanks for any advice.

Three and half days is plenty of time to enjoy Universal especially since you're staying onsite. Just remember to relax and enjoy...not rush around like at Disney.
