Another dining time question

We have only been on one Disney cruise and it was 3 years ago
We had the later dining time because our kids were finally old enough to handle it and it gave us more time at the pools and in port. However, we found that a lot of the family time events or even some of the kids events really got started at 7:30 or 8pm

For our 15nt cruise in 2008 we have the early dinner confirmed for now so that we can participate in the evening events that may interest us.

Is this a mistake should we switch to the later dining time or do most parents agree that the early dinner is better for evening event participation. Our kids will be 13 and 11 during the cruise

Tried to search for this but I can't seem to get the search function to work. I have tried all the tips / hints that have been listed but I still don't get any matches to what I am looking for or if I do they are from 2 or 3 years ago

Our kids had no interest in the clubs, other than DS was interested in using the Fitness Center, which is off limits to those under age 18 except for one 30 minute period (the entire 7 days ). when the clubs go. Of course, it was at 8:30 at night, same time as our late dining, so he didn't go.
I still find it hard to believe that a family cruise doesn't have regular hours each day when those under age 18 can use the fitness center.

Ours aren't that much into the kids clubs either but we do enjoy joining in some of the family events. Example, With the Mousketeer game on our last cruise it started at 7:45pm, our dining time was at 8pm. They didn't offer two times for this event and we had to miss it
