Does anyone know if table service meals allocated to a child can be used by an adult? Are all the meals grouped together or not? My son is 5 and he is a very picky eater. It would be great if my husband and I could use his meals say for breakfast or lunch and then we would just pay for my son's meals. Thanks for any advice!

Christine, all meals are pooled onto your resort id. However, many people feel that the meals should be used as purchased. IE child's meal for a child's price on the DDP. You and you hubby may find at some sitdown meals that there is so much food that you could split a few meals thereby giving you extra credits to use somewhere else. Or order your childs meal and 1 adult meal and split with all 3. As long as it is not a buffet or all you can eat, this is allowed. Several places including CS meals do have large portions. Check it out. :sunny: We split several meals and we are not small people. :rotfl:

Welcome to the DIS! This is a very hotly debated topic, but what the previous poster said is correct. They're all lumped together.

They are still grouped. We paid for our kids at Le Cellier because we had more TS meals than credits. We did have 2 occasions where the kids had adult CS. AT POFQ they said the kids could have any entree (the only 2 listed for kids were nuggets and pasta). My son had a cheeseburger but no fries which ended up only being 2.99 so less than the kids meal. At Pizzafari I ordered separately for the kids because they wanted pizza but none of the 4 of us got sides with our pizza so again we spent less overall than if we had gotten them kids meals and we had gotten side salads. It was actually somewhat hard because many CS restaurants had only 2 kids choices and not necesarily stuff my kids eat.

Thanks for the advice everyone! We are going at the end of the month(ASMo) and even though we are Disney vets this is the 1st time we have purchased the dining plan.

Indigo- In your experience, do the TS restaurants mind if you share meals? Do they have surcharges for sharing?

DC- Regarding the limited choices on CS kids' menus, how do they know you are ordering for a child? For example, could I order for the 3 of us (say regular lunches- not on the kids' menu) and just have 3 CS meals deducted? Would they know that 1 meal should be for a child? I am not trying to be sneaky but my son is very picky and he may prefer something on the regular menu as opposed to the limited kids' menu. That's why my first instinct was to pay for some of his CS and TS meals ourself and use his extra credits for either character breakfasts or splitting CS meals for breakfast.

I have a son who will have just turned 10 when we go. I paid for an adult ticket and DP. However, with that being said he is small for his age and doesn't eat much. I was speaking to a wonderful CM at guest services last night and she told me to either share an adult meal with him or just purchase him a child's meal and to save his adult table service for another time. I said "this is okay to do?" and she told me absolutely! I guess because I wasn't trying to use a paid child's meal for an adult meal later that it was okay. Anyways I hope this helps. BTW we use the dining plan last year and LOVED it!!!
