All options in cat 11 are way in the back. Do I just stick with the "cheap" ones which will be on deck two, forward, under a nightclub with no guarantee that our two cabins will be near each other? Or do we sepnd $800 dollars knowing we're close, but all the way in the back?

Aaaaargh! (I booked the cat 12 already, but can cancel it).

How many people. With 4 you will be bumped automatically to at least an 11 because the 12s only sleep 3 people. If there are just 2 of you a 12 will be fine. :)

We booked three and three; there are two adults and four kids.

What do you think? My fear is not the noise, but the chances of us getting sea sick (no history of it, though).

Thank!

I LOVE the pic of your little girl - she is beautiful and so is that dress. I can't wait to see my little girl's face on the ship - she's two and my only girl out of four!!!!

The lower you are and the more centrally located, the less chance of seasickness....so deck 2 isn't bad for that.

We have booked a 12 gty, but never sailed in a 12...always upgraded to at least an 11. If you "link" your ressies, you will be seated together at dinner and probably located near each other.

I had one cruise where I was on one deck forward, friends were another deck mid.....when we "linked", they moved me (gty) so we were close.

Do you think I should change the reservation from three and three to two and four? Would that increase my chances of getting upgraded? We are going on Feb 11th - week before President's Day.

There are only thirteen CAT 12's on the boat, your chances of being upgraded are excellent.

I have no idea but maybe some experienced Diser will help. I have heard that all 12's with four booked will have to be upgraded because they don't sleep four. So maybe it will. But since there is so little difference between a cat 11 (most likely upgrade location) and cat 12, As far as comfort, I don't imagine there will be much difference.

Remember, you might run the risk of getting upgraded but your rooms will be far apart. This happened to my SIL on our most recent cruise (July 2). She booked two cat 12 gty for two adults and 3 children and ended up getting two cat 11 rooms on deck 6 (one forward and one midship). In her case however, I do not know how much DCL could have accomodated her request for side-by-side rooms because the cruise was literally fully-booked when she made the reservation in late 2004. Anyway, they managed to enjoy the cruise. Her DH and DS14 stayed in one room and she and her DD9 and DD4 in the other. Unfortunately, each cat 11 room given to her only slept 3. There was no pull-down bunk bed.

I guess if your kids are very young, make sure your rooms are connecting rooms (there are plenty of these cat 9 and 10 rooms on deck 2). If they are old enough, you could get two side-by-side cat 11 rooms but they'll have to knock on your door if they need you (we did this in 2004, when we had 3 consecutive rooms on deck 5 forward when DH's parents joined us).

Good luck! Check out "deck plans" above or get a Passporter for more info about the staterooms and deck plans. Connecting rooms are shown by little black arrows.

I wouldn't worry a bit about being near the back of the ship. If you want the rooms adjacent, pick the rooms and pay the price. You could end up in totally different areas of the ship otherwise.
