I was looking at the map of CBR, and called in to request a room in Aruba bldg 52. I know it is not a guarantee, but only a request. I was reading posts on another site (gasp), and many people were raving about being in the Jamaica section. Should I change my request to Jamaica? I will be there with my Dad, who has some problems with his ankle, so I wanted to minimize walking, and be able to get to the food court, bus stop, etc easily. Any opinions? We have paid for a std room only, so cannot request the preferred buildings. Thanks!!

We were in Jamaica in April and it was wonderful. It was close to the main building, but still had a nice walk. It was close to a bus stop, and you could see the top fireworks from Illuminations from outside our room.

That being said. I don't think there are really any areas at the CBR which really minimize walking, it's just such a huge resort. As long as you're not in Trinadad North, you're pretty close to the main area. Aruba and Jamaica are just a walk across Castaway Cay.

I would have liked to go once the pool was re-opened, I'm sure it will be great.

As long as you're not in Trinadad North, you're pretty close to the main area.

Trinidad South is what you meant, I think... Trinidad North is a preferred location next to Old Port Royale.

I agree -- I want to go back to CBR when the pool's done too!!:thumbsup2

CBR is a great resort. We usually requested either Jamaica or Aruba and have stayed at both. Both are quick walks across the bridge to the food court. Both are close to bus stops. I think you will really enjoy the resort. It has such a tropic, relaxed feel to it. :beach:

As previous posters have said, Aruba and Jamaica are both great locations and they are situated right next to each other.

If you are on that side of the lake, you will take a short walk across the bridge and through the island to reach the food court and store. We were in Jamaica and it took us about 5 minutes to walk to Old Port Royale. Not a strenuous walk at all.

As far as being far from a bus stop, don't worry about that at all. Each village has their own bus stop so you are always within a short walk from one. The resort has two entrances. Sometimes, they will enter next to the village of Jamaica and sometimes they will enter next to the village of Martinique. The buses makes their way around the entire resort before leaving.

Aruba and Jamaica are very similar, however, keep in mind that each has multiple bldgs. So you may end up close to the bridge or close to the bus stop.

You could always inquire when you check in about a bldg. closer to either; let them know your dad has some trouble walking.

Both Jamaica and Aruba are just across the bridge. There is no big difference in distance to the food court. I think most people prefer Jamaica because sometimes it is the first stop on the bus route (depending on which route the bus is taking). I agree with another poster, as long as you are not in Trinidad South (or Barbados), I would think you'd be just fine.

Actually, we found Barbados to be a good location. We enjoyed having two quiet pools so close (Martinque and Barbados) and you are close to the Custom House so that makes checkin and checkout and ME very easy. The walk from our building in Barbados (16) was around 5-7 minutes at a leisurely pace to Old Port Royale. So not as close as Jamaica and Aruba but still pretty doable.

By the time we checked in, we had Barbados and Trindad South and when I looked at the map I chose Barbados hands down. There is no comparison to the walks between Barbados and TS to the main area. I'd be fine in Trinidad South but have to say, it is a bit of a hike!
