Another car hire thread!

Family and I have been questioning this for months now and still haven't come up an answer - it's getting close to our holiday and we really need to get this sorted, therefore I thought best thing is to bring it to you guys!

There are 9 of us on this trip - 7 staying in my parents in law's villa in Davenport, and 2 staying in pop century. The 7 at the villa include my 2 kids
(6 and 2 - car seats needed) and my dad, who at 79 is not wanting to do so much park touring this trip. I will also point out that my mum does not want my dad to do any driving unless really necessary (you'd understand too if you experienced it!).

My brother and sister in law at pop century are having their own mid size car and we were thinking of getting a 7-seater for the rest of us at the villa. My worry is what happens if some of us at the villa want to go to WDW but some want to have a quiet day - those left at the villa will confined to the villa for the entire time the others are at the park and means no flexibility for those at the parks.

My latest thought was that maybe instead of a 7-seater we could get 2 smaller size cars - I just don't know where to start hunting round for that and doing a comparison price wise with the 7-seater.

Any ideas/thoughts would be most welcome and if anyone knows where the cheapest place would be I''d be so grateful.

Our dates are 17th Oct - 3rd Nov 2011, and we're flying in to MCO.

try uscarhire we have found their rates to be quite reasonable. I agree that you may have problems with only 1 car over 2 holiday places, the pop folks won;t have any issues with disney transport, but some of your party will be isolated if the folks in the villa want to stay behind.

Do you have an itineray as this may help in deciding when to have a car from and too.

Thanks, I will try uscarhire. We do have an itineray, and we really are doing stuff most days. There is the odd day when we are taking it easy, buy as they are scattered around in the 2 weeks, I think we really need the cars for the whole time.

Does anyone else have any ideas/prices?

If there will only be the odd occasion where some stay at the villa it might work out cheaper to just get taxis if they need them that day rather than paying a few hundred for another car?

I thought this was a genious idea, however this would only work if we had a 7 seater as half the time we'll all be going places together. If we had the one midsize car half of us would always have to go everywhere in a taxi

Which would be most cost effective: a 7 seater + occasional taxi or 2 midsizes?
