Another Cabin Internet Question

For some reason, I keep finding conflicting information on Internet access in the cabins. Does anyone know if there actually is Wi-Fi in the cabins, or if you can only use the corded broadband (plug into the wall)? I read on AllEars that you should reserve a "cable modem kit to have high speed Internet access. A Local Area Network (LAN) cable is required. The necessary modem kit is rented at the Front Desk in the Outpost.". It said that it should be reserved in advance, or it may not be available.

Also - do you have to bring your own LAN cable, or does this come with the kit?

Going to FW Cabins for my FIRST TIME EVER 19th-30th and can't wait!

Also - any suggestions on requesting cabin loops?

Thanks in advance!!!!

We just got back from the fort. My husband and I camped, but our two daughters and son-in-law had a cabin. My son-in-law needed internet access for a few days, and I went on down a day to check my email. He had charging privledges on his Disney card, so all he did was log on and use the Disney card like a credit card for internet access. He had wifi access, and he did not have to use anything from the front desk. Very simple to do.

It's corded broadband and in order to use it you need to have charge priviledges to your room.

Nothing needs to be reserved. The modem is under the TV on a shelf in the living room. The cord is already there and plugged in. One of my cabins even had 2 cords.

It's already in the cabin. If it's missing, call and they will get you one.

I was there 2 weeks ago and also last Jan and nothing has changed. It appears that allears.net needs to be updated.

I believe wi-fi is only at the front desk area. There wasn't even a signal at my cabin.

Access is $9.95 per day.

The last we were there Disney charged $9.95 a day for internet connection in the cabin. As mentioned, the router is under the TV and is hard wired, meaning you have to connect you have to connect your computer to it with a Cat5 cable. There is no WiFi in the cabins. However, we take a wireless travel router with us when we travel and connect that to the hard wired router in the cabin. This allows both my husband and I to connect at the same time, wirelessly. We both try to keep up with work emails while vacationing so we aren't overwhelmed when back home.

Thank you all SO MUCH for the help. I was just so confused, and then when I called the front desk at the Fort, they had no clue either. I knew I could count on the DIS :goodvibes

Thanks again!
