Another BWV view question...

We decided we can't wait until November to start using our new DVC so we booked a quick trip in May. I called and got a BWV studio with preferred view being the only thing left there. The MS rep said that would be either a pool or garden view. What about the boardwalk view, isn't that included?

Should I call MS back and request a particular view or room? I've heard of some of the discrepancies in rooms and with this being our first trip to BWV and using DVC, I'm a little more than concerned. BTW, we will be trying to check in by 9:30am and I plan to arm myself with that wonderful BWV room sheet that a generous DIS'er put together, but I don't know if I'll ever have a chance to use it! Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm new to Boardwalk DVC ownership, and I'm also taking a trip in May, and have a preferred garden/pool view room reserved. The BW offers preferred Boardwalk views, and preferred Garden/pool views. From reading here, the standard rooms always go first because they cost fewer points, and I'm assuming that most people would take the Boardwalk view over the garden/pool view, so folks who booked before us got those.

Thanks for your help! We're going in May too...the 1st-7th. I was confused when I called and they said pool or garden view because I thought there was just two views: standard and preferred. I guess they break that preferred view down a little further! I'll keep my fingers crossed that we'll have a good view; of course I still have time to do my research on particular rooms or sections of rooms! ;) Thanks again!

I arrive on the 7th, and leave on the 13th. I'm staying at the Dolphin on the 7th, though.

It used to be just standard and preferred. Sometime in 2003, they broke out the preferred view into boardwalk and pool/garden. This was because the boardwalk view is requested so often and they are only a small percent of the resort (I've heard 20%). The change coincided with the introduction of "room ready" where rooms are assigned at check-in. By specifically reserving the room views, there were less problems at check-in. This way you know upfront when reserving if you will get boardwalk view or not.

Don't request a particular room - that would just be setting your self up for failure. If the room is already occupied/assigned, the room assigner won't know why you wanted that room.

If a particular view is important to you, sure! Go ahead and call MS and add a reuest or two. Be as general as you can and list the requests in the order of importance to you. Most people list Smoking or Non-Smoking first.

Some examples, view of Luna Park, view of the quiet pool, close to the elevators (or not, LOL), upper floor, etc.

There are a small number of rooms that have a partial view of the Boardwalk and Crescent Lake. You will be able to see the higher level fireworks from IllumiNations from them as well. If that appeals to you, request a view of the VIllage Green (the lawn in front of the lobby between the BWI & BWV wings. The 4th side of the green is the lake/dock). Keep in mind that there are only a small number of these rooms.

I know that some have reported getting bad views at the BWV. FWIW, we've stayed there many times and never had a really bad view. If you do, remember that it's just a hop, skip and a jump or two out to the Boardwalk and once you're there, you can see fireworks and the lake. The YC, BC & Swan Dolphin all look wonderful - especially at night.

Have fun!

Thank you Carol! Your information is what I'm looking for! I had requested a non-smoking room when I made the reservation but I think I'll be calling back on Monday to add another request, or two. ;) Thanks again for your help!

Karen...looks like we'll be just missing each other! One of these trips I'm bound to run into a fellow DIS'er!

Debbie...thanks for explaining that! It makes sense.
