I would love to eat here for the atmosphere, however nothing on the menu appeals to DH and I other than something from the kids menu or just dessert. Has anyone gone just for dessert? If we can do that, what time would be good to get a waterside table?

A number of people in previous posts have gone for the dessert only and encountered no problems.

For waterside seating, aim for a reservation as soon as it opens for lunch or reopens for dinner. That would be 11:30pm or 4pm. Ask when you check in and be prepared to wait 15 minutes for the waterside tables.

You can do just dessert...but fyi, you and DH can both order from the kids' menu. Simply tell the server you'd like to do so, you will pay double the price and receive double the portion of the kids' menu item you order. :)

All this is wonderful to hear. We now have a reservation for Monday May 9 at 11:30am! Does anyone know what exactly "blue bayou potatoes" are?

Those sound very yummy. I think DH will have to order something that gets him some taters.
