ANOTHER Birth Certificate Question

When we got out all our birth certificates, we noticed that although they ALL have raised seals from the state they were issued in, my husbands appears to be a copy of the original. Is this going to be a problem????? On the new instructions that came with the documents it says, "original birth certificate with raised seal" and then later it says "copies without raised seal not accepted". We want to find out NOW instead of the Saturday we try to get on the boat!

I'm not sure I understand your question, Mary Ann -- if you're husband's birth certificate is a CERTIFIED copy of the orginal then it's fine. If it's a PHOTOCOPY that is not certified then it's not fine.

Not all states use the raised seal, so look for one of 2 things:

Either the raised seal, or a stamp saying it is a true and accurate copy, signed by a county registrar - usually in purple-colored ink.

If what you have was sent to you by the county health dept., you should be fine!

We sent away for another copy of my DH bc froom the State of Ohio thru Vital check..they sent us a photocopy of his BC, but it had a raised stamp, and also a red stamp that said "Certified Copy", with a signature on it...no problems at all boarding....from what I have been told a photocopy WITH a raised seal/stamp is fine... Enjoy!

My husbands birth certificate is a copy. It is funny looking (kind of looks like a fax copy would look). But it has a raised seal on the bottom. This sufficed to get him his passport (which has expired). So, I think what you have is similar. We should be fine
