A crazy thought.....

;) For DVC'ers in a one-bedroom or larger....we could put that vaccuum to use. Pack our stuff in "space bags" and we could have the whole family packed into one (incredibly heavy) suitcase. Most folks can't do it because they'd have to track down a vaccuum to re-pack for the trip home! ;) ;)

I haven't used Space bags, but I have used Ziploc Freezer bags to pack my kids clothes in. When you don't have a vacuum on the return trip, you can roll them, or my personal fav, you sit on them. Don't laugh, it works!

Pam......You're absolutely right!:D Several years back I purchased the space bags for a trip to the Canadian Rockies. Gosh......I was able to vacuum pack all 4 of our winter coats. Luckily, the timeshare condo we had in British Columbia had a vaccuum cleaner:)

We sure could have used those in March when we were packing to come home. Maybe the shops at the DVC resorts should start carrying space bags! :D

LOL, Pam. Got to add this to the DVC solicitation materials!

The above sounds like a good idea! However, watch the weight of your luggage. Airlines are beginning to charge for significantly overweight bags. It happened to us on our last trip. I was able to get them to forego the charge since our fight was delayed. Just a thought!! Enjoy!!

Great idea Pam! I hate overpacking for a trip, and I have learned how to fit a week's worth of clothes in a carry-on. Thankfully, we have the washer/dryer in the units. Could this be a way for us to have more room for souvenirs?

If you packed my family, it really would be one incredibly heavy suitcase. My boys alone, if combined, weigh over 600 pounds. ;)

sorry...couldn't resist...

Dotti (and you'd save on airfare too!)

But, Mom, it's funny! I laughed!. I have really enjoyed this board, really relaxes me after a hard day at work.

Pam,

Great idea, but just checked the vac in a one bedroom here at OKW and it's an upright. Don't see a hose anywhere. Do you know if we can request a hose from housekeeping for our space bags?? Got to love those things, I use them all the time at home!

Do any of you remember that Special K commercial where the family was packing for a trip, the kid couldn't close the suitcase, and he said "let's get mom to sit on it". The dad starts laughing until he turns around and sees that his wife was standing behind him.:p :p :p

(I pack a big ole' empty duffle bag that I use for the dirty clothes. Leaves me lots of room for what's important: souvenirs. )

I saw a lady at the airport with a space bag in her luggage. She was "choosen" to undergo a full search with her suitcase. They made her open the space bag and then she had no where to put 1/2 the stuff since it did not fit into the suitcase.

Tough call!
:)

LOL! Disneyma that thought had crossed my mind. The expanding pile of clothes!! :earseek: :earseek:
