another banking question

If I make a reservation, let's say on Dec 2003, for Nov 2004 and I have a december use year and I cancel in june, can I bank those points? I believe I can if they were not borrowed and I am within my banking window. If I borrow the points, I can't bank them, right?

Also, say in Jan 2004 I make a ressie for Dec 2005. If I cancel before 30 days, these points can be banked since they were not borrowed, right?

Sorry if this is confusing, I'm trying to grasp it all before I make my first ressie.

I think you have it right, except you can't book December 2005 in January 2004. You can only book December 2004 at that time, and only at your home resort.

You are correct, you cannot bank points that have been borrowed.

And it sounds like you understand the different percentages you can bank at a given time, so you can always bank current year (non borrowed) points at the various banking windows with the appropriate limitations on percent of points at each window.

Not quite. With a December use year, you have until the end of your 6th month into the use year to bank all your points. That would be May 31 (because you need to count December in that 6 month count). Thus, if you cancel by May 31, you can bank all your points into the next use year. If you cancel in June, you will only be able to bank up to 50% of your points (that is 50% of all you got for the use year), as from the beginning of your seventh month to the end of 9th, the limit is 50%.

Points once borrowed and points once banked must be used in the year to which you have placed them and cannot be borrowed or banked again. Also, your maximum reservation window is 11 months at home resort and 7 at others. If you cancel more than 30 days out (30 days or less sends your points to a holding account)points retain whatever status they had when you made ressie (current, banked, or borrowed) and you can bank the current ones if your banking window allows it.

That would be a 23 month reservation window. I don't think they will let you do it.
