Another bad sign on keeping the parks clean??

WOW..........I bet that Dasani bottle has a hidden Mickey!!!!:hyper: They put it there on purpose!!

Oh Boy......one more hidden Mickey to look for when we go in June!!

DISney Freak UK............TOO funny!!!!!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

People are pigs :scared1: I agree.

Sorry.......But I have better things to do than look for other peoples garbage. And If by chance I do walk by something.......I pick it up and throw it away......

Three pages of posts over one bottle?!

My experience continues to be that WDW is a great place to go for our family. It is consistently clean and well cared for.

I have never seen a Six Flags restroom as clean as the worst I have seen at Disney but that isn’t either here or there.

The Dasani bottle is metaphorically half full or half empty.

If I saw it I would mention it but I can’t get all worked up over one piece of litter and I disagree that the parks are worse. In my experience that are fine. Your Mileage May Vary.

I sure wouldn’t make it the focus of my vacation to go visit a piece of trash. That is beyond sad it is down right inane to go look for trash day after day when there are so many great rides, shows and performers to see.

$50 for admission rides, shows etc and the high point is a piece of trash? Priceless.

Oh by the way. I think the maintenance guys are great. Here's my experiance with a trash guy. http://badshoe.com/danny.htm

That's a joke right? You're not serious? You honestly think that people pay Disney's premium prices to look for GARBAGE?!?!?!?!!
I think there are people who have annual passes do that, yes. Jim Hill has admitted as much. The water bottle in question got people to walk back to Splash Mountain several times on one trip, and others on this board went in to check it out too. That's wasting admissions to WDW in order to look for garbage.

There is an entire website -- Disney Blues, I think it is -- that is dedicated to finding things in the park that need to be fixed and putting pictures of them on the website. Tell me those folks aren't specifically looking for things to photograph and add.

It's not as outrageous as you think.

I’ve purposely stayed out of this nonsense until now. All these pages of gibberish dedicated to garbage left in the park. Whether the guest threw the garbage there or nature blew it in with some ‘butterfly effect’ or it simply materialized out of thin air misses the central issue! DISNEY MUST REMOVE IT! PRONTO!!!! And it is not incumbent upon the guest to insure it happens! The Disney philosophy dictates that it be removed! PERIOD!! End of it!! The guest should NEVER even be aware that the litter had ever landed there in the first place! And no matter what ‘excuse’ they use, shortage of CMs, area rarely seen by guests, guests being more slovenly lately, etc. doesn’t matter!! Hire more CMs!! Insure they make rounds!! Do what you have to so that this type of discussion NEVER takes place on a web site again!!

WHOA!!!

Unless you’ve been there and know what you are talking about, please stop casting reckless assertions regarding that site!

It is true that the operator of the web site does run pictures of terribly neglected items. But it is equally true that he posts the remedies when they occurs as well. I suggest you educate yourself with both the problems of WDW and the causes, before slandering or denigrating the sites dedicated to merely reporting the situation!

Have to agree about the decline in cleanliness and maintenance. On our recent trip, this past November, one of the letters in the Pleasure Island and Jessica Rabbit sign was burned out. It read "PLE SURE ISLAND." We went to Disney Quest every night, for 6 straight nights and it was never taken care of.

Does it really take away from your enjoyment of the parks? I think not.

It doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the trip itself, but every night we passed that sign, someone in the group made a comment referring to the stupid letter and how we couldn't believe that it had not been taken care of. :(

Each drop in quality effects guest enjoyment, at least in my eyes. If the drop in service doesn't bother you then that's the problem. As long as it doesn't bother people, Disney will say "oh well, nobody cares, why should we bother cleaning up."

The posters reticent to criticize and who say that the drop in quality doesn't matter are the ones that will lead to further drops.

Someone posted and asked that if Disney is crowded lately why can't they afford to hire more maintenance. Don't you see the illogic nature of that question? If Disney knows that people will come even with the drop in quality then they won't bother to fix it.

All I try to do on these board(s) is change people's negative perspective to be more positive to promote general happiness for all. I'm sorry, if you go into something looking for negatives, you will find (or manufacture) negatives. On the other hand, if you go to someplace like WDW looking for a good time you are faced with more 'happiness' options than any other place in the world.
We (my daughter, brother and myself) have simply amazingly good times at WDW enjoying the new and classic attractions over and over again, the live shows , the amazingly diverse landscaping.

Although the extra trash-picker-uppers of old have been replaced with survey takers and the parks are therefore are less immaculate than before, I contend that the landscaping is better than ever.

And, unlike some who for some reason associate the 'magic' with cleanliness (only), I feel that the magic quota has increased many fold...especially at the Magic Kingdom. From the morning opening ceremony, to the plethora of characters you will now find throughout the park all day, the character meals in the Castle, Crystal Palace and Liberty Inn, the interactive day parade and the magical night parades, with the addition of Mickey's Philharmagic and Wishes, to the friendly CMs and streetmousephere, to Mickey standing on top of the train station every night waving and saying goodnight to everyone.

No wonder why EVERY trip to WDW for us is a special trip for us.

After being exposed to high excellent standards, it's hard to accept what is being passed off as high standards today.

Too bad the younger ones don't know what it is like. The throw away generation.

Of course if one has their "blinders" on they will escape the reality of the damage that the cutbacks have caused people who visit the parks. And maybe pretending this hasnt happened may make their trip more enjoyable, but that is just trying to excuse disney for their actions or another scape from reality.
Maybe some think dirty bathrooms/trash/closed attractions in the parks are just really props to enhance the guest expereince??

Too many people, from college age to retirement age, when they apply to WDW for a job and find they are accepted for a position of "sanitary imagineer", then they decide right away they would rather work at McDonalds flipping hamburgers.

I didn't notice trash standing out like a sore thumb recently (Nov. '03) but I did notice burned out light bulbs including on signs on MK Main St. and outlining the buildings at Epcot. Fortunately if one bulb burns out it does not shorten the life of the rest, but sometimes it is not better to take a stitch in time*. Instead they could send up an electrician just once every now and then to replace several bulbs.

* If you take nine stitches at once you only have to pull out the sewing kit and thread the needle once at the beginning and put everything away once at the end.

Disney hints:

Cities sometimes use "group relamping" when maintaining streetlights. All the bulbs in all the light fixtures are changed at predetermined time intervals after a few lights have gone out. This reduces the number of times a cherrypicker has to make a trip out to some remote location and block traffic.
