I'd like to purchase my APs now just to have everything paid for before we get there. I just want to be sure that you are still mailed a voucher and that the "clock" doesn't start ticking on the AP until you actually exchange the voucher. I'd hate to buy now and loose a month or so on the pass.

The passes are good from the time they are activated. When you take the vouchers to the gate, they will give you the actual tickets and will validate them. Then...the clock will start ticking.

Ordering them online or mail will get you vouchers. You can't get vouchers at the parks, they are active tickets. You also can't buy APs at the resorts either, or that's what we were told at concierge services.

Don't forget though that when/if you do a renewal you keep your same anniversary date. There is no lag time between renewal & activation.

You used to be able to renew and activate whenever you wanted, no more.
You can , however, buy your AP from Disney over the phone and have the voucher waiting for you at Guest Services at your Resort Hotel
