Hi,
Just booked my first AP January 30. It has been linked to MDE and I have been able to use it to get AP room discount. However, from what I read on the forums it seems like I should have received a voucher and/or a discount card in the mail? I have not receive anything in the mail regarding the AP. Should I have received something by now? Thanks.
Edd & Deborah.
We will be at AKL April 23-26.

You won't get anything in the mail if you just ordered an AP as "Will Call."
(Except, of course, for the MagicBands for your resort stay.)

When you arrive for your trip, you will need to go to any ticket booth or Guest Relations outside any theme park, water park, or at TTC or at DTD and show a legal photo ID to activate your new AP and pick up your AP card.

After you return home from your first trip using the AP, you will be able to customize an additional "AP" MagicBand on your MDE account, and you will be mailed that along with a new AP ID card to use for the rest of the year that you own your new AP.

BTW, just for future reference, you do not need to actually have PURCHASED an AP in order to BOOK an AP room discount. You just need to order the AP in time to book your FP+ (if you want them.) Otherwise, it's fine to not actually purchase the AP until you arrive at WDW.

Have you actually PAID for the AP yet, or is it part of a package where you don't have to finish payment until 45 days before you arrive?

I bought my AP online last month (not attached to a resort stay) and received a dark green plastic credit card-like pass that says Exchange Voucher and has instructions for exchanging it for an AP when I arrive. But my AP is paid in full.

What Robo said! We're here now, and just did the same thing. Everything will be fine! They also ordered new magic bands for us already (with the AP '15 sliders) and said they'd be there when we got back home!

Paid in full at time of purchase.

Thanks, Robo. I have read LOTS and knew most of this but definitely appreciate the info. Still not clear on what ConnieB said about the exchange voucher she received.

Guests do not need any kind of physical voucher in order to pick up their AP.
But, some guests do order the voucher to be sent to them.
Others order the AP as "Will Call" (which USED to be the only way that an AP automatically connected to an MDE account.)
I think MDE now connects automatically to all AP orders, but Will Call is still a fine way to order a new AP.

Sounds great. Thanks again for your help.

Here is what I received about a week after I paid for my AP:

Our APs are in our MDE and we can make FP, even though they obviously haven't been activated yet. I don't think you "need" the physical cards if you have the Magic Bands, but given the glitchy nature of MDE and the Disney website in general, I feel better having the physical card.

If OP requested Will Call, that might be why they weren't sent....if not, I'd call and ask. These do not have my name on them, so scary thought is whether anyone with this card in their possession could exchange them? Or perhaps because they are attached to my MDE they'd compare the voucher and my name on MDE.

The card doesn't matter, one way or the other.
The only thing that matters is that you ordered APs and that you will show up at a ticket booth or Guest Relations with your legal Photo ID and the credit card used to purchase the AP.

Yes, I said that you don't "need" the card, but OP obviously was wanting/expecting the cards and if he didn't get them, frankly, I'd be worried enough to call Disney to inquire. Last time, I did not have to show ID (I know this because I do not carry ID to the parks, so if it were required I would remember the inconvenience of having to go get my ID) nor a credit card (since I didn't pay for them, I got them thru Disney rewards)....so anyone who has possession of those vouchers could presumably have activated my AP. I'm hoping now that they automatically register with MDE that Disney can verify, but if OP was expecting to receive vouchers he should probably at least check to be sure they weren't mailed out and lost. That is a huge chunk of change to wonder if they're floating around.

I got my card when I went to Guest Relations to activate it but didn't get a special Magic band, I'm thinking I can order it on MDE but since I already have 6 of them don't think I will. They physical card is sometimes needed if you are using your AP discount at certain shops. I have been asked to show it just about every time I've used the discount except for at the hotel.

Thanks, ConnieB and Robo. I finally called ticketing and they verified that all I need when I show up at guest relations to pick up and activate my AP is ID and my confirmation number. Thanks for all your help. Edd

Um, if you plan to use your AP discount at all in the parks, you need to bring an ID with you. Disney has gotten very strict about this rule.
