So I know there are many versions of what I am going to ask already in existence right now, but I cannot decide what resort to stay at and I want to book by tomorrow so I am leaving it up to a poll on the DIS!

Basically my choices are 12th Floor Concierge at the Contemporary or Poly Lagoon View Concierge. Initially I thought I wanted the Contemporary and I was all set to book, but then it wasn't available for one of my dates (SIDE NOTE: I have posted this before, but Marathon Weekend is getting booked up quickly Jan 11th-Jan 13th) so I am left with the decision to keep that and change the dates or switch to Poly LVC and keep the dates. Here are my pros and cons (and these are just for me, don't try to convince me that I am wrong about the pros and cons):

Contemporary Pros:
1. Nicer rooms
2. Walking distance to MK
3. MK views (although over a parking lot)
4. All one building
5. California Grill
6. $100 a night less than Poly LVC (Depending on how long we stay that adds up somewhere around $500-$600 total. That would almost cover airfare/our 2 day stay at Universal.)

Contemp. Cons:
1. CONSTRUCTION (I will be there in January so hopefully it will only be construction on the new tower and in the 1st floor, which I don't plan on going to much)
2. No guaranteed MK view
3. Have to change my dates

Poly Pros:
1. Lagoon/Beach (no parking lot)
2. Hawaii lounge seems nicer than Atrium Club
3. Nice pool/landscaping
4. Totally renovated
5. Guaranteed Lagoon/MK view

Poly Cons:
1. More expensive
2. Slightly tacky overwhelming theme
3. Rooms are not as much my scene as the Contemporary
4. No guaranteed balcony
5. $100 a night more than the already expensive Atrium Club

Thanks for your help, and any advice would be welcomed.

We stayed 12th floor Concierge over Christmas - the lounge was lovely and the staff fantastic. We had a MK view which made it extra special for us. We were in room 4343 which is the closest to the MK and we couldn't hear any construction noise - and there were trucks coming and going into the North wing site. I did like the lounge and it was lovely sitting with breakfast watching the 7 seas lagoon.

We are trying Poly concierge this summer so it will be interesting to see how they compare but I have a feeling the CR will win for us.

Thanks, keep me posted on how you think the Poly compares!

I voted for the Polynesian because I've been there before and it was wonderful.

I voted for changing your dates and staying at the Contemporary. I've always wanted to stay at both, but the walk to MK is so nice, so given the choice I would definitely go with Contemporary. Plus, it's not spread all over the place. Good luck with your decision, I'm sure your trip will be wonderful no matter which place you stay :goodvibes

Well good news, I decided to end the madness and go with the DIS and book the Poly LVC for my original dates. Right before I booked I asked the CM to check the same dates at the Contemporary and lo and behold, they had availability for the last night. I snatched the reservation up and now I am booked at the Contemporary Atrium Club for Jan 7th through Jan 12th!

I definitely think I made the right decision and I totally bet I can figure out some way to put the extra $550 to good use :). I probably still will be scanning the DIS for any reference to the construction at the Contemporary taking a turn towards the disruptive and obnoxious and as long as there is availability, I will be over to the Poly in a second. I noticed that the Poly LVC rooms are not as hard to book as the Contemporary Atrium Club. Based on a quick scan for the upcoming months at waltdisneyworld.com the Contemporary was often completely booked and I only once found rooms on the Atrium Club available, whereas LVC was always available as long as there were rooms available at the Poly (and that only happened once).

I would have to go with the Poly!!! If I were given my choice of anywhere on WDW property, it would be Poly lagoon view concierge! (ok, so I'd love to stay in the Castle Suite, but of all the places the Gen. public can stay, it's got to be Poly lagoon view conc. hands down) It sounds like you tend to favor the CR in general, though, while I favor the Poly. That has to be taken into consideration, too...just the whole personal preference thing... Honestly, my biggest concern would be the construction over at the CR....some people are saying it's a big deal, ithers are saying it won't be disruptive. IMHO, It's your vacation...I'd play it safe and stay somewhere where you know there is no risk of construction interfering with your trip.

Can't you walk to MK from the Poly also? :)

Oh, I forgot in my prev resopnse....No, you can't walk to MK, but you can walk to the TTC. You have the monorail of course, and also a boat to MK & GF (It may go to the CR and FW, too, I'm not 100% on that.) We liked to walk to the TTC and then take the boat to MK. There were often characters on there in the morning.
