Another alcohol question

Some obviously used to be stuffed into lockers when they were in junior high, while others were obviously the kids who raised their hands in the last 10 minutes of class and asked the teacher if they were supposed to have a quiz.

There are those here who troll threads that they don't even have reason to be in (such as specific cruise groups) just so they can ******* This is why I like other venues for cruise groups. Only those who *belong* in the cruise group can see the cruise group's discussions.

And some people like to think they are above the rules or that the rules don't apply to them. And that is SOMETIMES why DCL has to change its rules....because adults can't seem to follow them!! Those adults have the mentality that rules apply to everyone else but them... they think *I* am special. *I* can do what *I* want!! SMH!!!

So we need 750ml bottles of wine coolers? It says wine :)

These rules are to stop the rolling coolers full of booze. I remember this on a 3n cruise back in 2013. A passenger was carrying a square crate on a folding rolling cart. The crate was overfull with bottles of Jack Daniels and wine coolers. I just take a bottle or two of Argentinean Merlot...

We had Mikes hard lemonade taken as boarding The Wonder last month. They were hand checking all carry ons and told us to go turn it in at a table - which was COVERED with alcohol

Were they Canadian Mike's? Because if not, I'd have raised holy hell with them. American Mike's clearly marks itself as a malt beverage, also known as beer.

NO, it is not. Substitutions are not acceptable. They are allowing "traditional" beer to be carried on.

And the question is WHY? Why "a beer" but not "a candy flavored malt beverage"? A beer is a beer-flavored malt beverage.

The rule was created by people not thinking it through.

I have plenty of beers in my cellar that don't say "beer" on the label. By definition, they are beer, but they don't say that. They might say Barleywine. They might say Saison. They might say Radler. They might have all sorts of different beer *types* on them, but they don't necessarily say Beer. By your definition, a bottle of wine would have to say wine on it, and I don't know of many that say wine. They'll say Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Aligote or other. :rainbow:

Exactly.

My sadness is that I can't bring my 22 oz bottles of craft beer. I tried a 387 or whatever that bar and beer on Dream are called. Meh. So beer is out for me on DCL. They won't be making ANY money in beer off of me.

Nor in wine, because I can bring 2 bottles and that's enough for a 4 night cruise for me! MORE than enough!

Nor in boozey drinks either.

And that is SOMETIMES why DCL has to change its rules....because adults can't seem to follow them!!

People followed the previous rules *just fine*. The rule change was for their own reasons, most likely MONEY-based.

So we need 750ml bottles of wine coolers? It says wine :)

:)

If only there were some actual wine in bottled US wine coolers....

FWIW, the Dream and the Fantasy do have St. Stefanus, a bottle conditioned blonde, available. You just have to ask a bartender or server who is in the know. I've had it on both boats.

The beer selection on DCL is woefully inadequate. After a while I get tired of drinking Jai Alai, Invasion and Florida Cracker (the only real craft available onboard other than St. Stefanus).

This shows a 330 ml bottle, but the bottles they have onboard are 750 cork & cage bottles. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/48/79209/

Let the "I's" have it and it turns into "we". I'm fine with challenging the rules when it explicitly allows beer. It doesn't specify "traditional" beer. Therefore. It's up to my interpretation. I guess it's the pirate it me. Rum runners anyone?

i have stayed out of this thread.....

just remember, name calling is the last ditch defense of an argument not backed by strong logic.....

i have been on these boards for a few years now and you can substitute theater rows, flash photography, pool chairs, dining attire, etc etc ad nauseam for beer/coolers when you discuss rules and rule breakers.

the point/counter point just rolls on and on......

that doesn't mean I don't enjoy reading 'em. good work, you guys!
