Another AG doll/Madame Alexander doll ?

My 9yo dd thinks she wants a Madame Alexander doll now. At least one review of them said that they were very good quality.

Can anyone here who has one tell me how they like the doll? Does her hair hold up ok? and more to the point - will AG doll clothes fit a MA doll?

DD has several AG and 1 MA doll - she's had the MA doll for almost a year now and her hair is still very lovely. Yes the AG clothes will fit MA dolls.

Thanks soo much DisneyMomma81 - that helps a lot! Yahoo for a budget conscious 9 y.o.! (She's decided for $25 she'll enjoy a doll but $100 is a lot... esp. when she's not *certain* how much she will play with it!) Maybe she'll want an AG down the road, we'll see.

My mom has hundreds of Madame Alexander dolls. She has been collecting them since the 70's. She doesn't play with them though lol. She keeps them in her closet in their original boxes. We recently checked on a few to see how they were doing since they just sit there for years and they look brand new. I don't know how they are once they are played with but they do very well in paper boxes tucked away in the closet with no signs of heat or dust damage.

My aunts daughters each have one that we bought them 3 years ago. they still look great. The oldest is a tom boy and very rough on dolls and hers still looks great. In fact last time I was up home I spent a hour giving the one mini braids. I have bought ag clothes and they do fit.

Last year my DD8 decided she wanted an AG doll. She never really was too into dolls, but all her friends had them. I know they are supposed to be wonderful quailty, but we spend no more then $100 max for all their Christmas gifts so that wasn't happening. After Christmas, target had the MA dolls for $12 and I got her one. I am kicking myslef for not getting more for gifts but it was right after Christmas and I was feeling broke. Anyway, it is a beautiful doll and when we go places no one knows the difference between it and an AG doll.

I still have MY MA dolls. They are very well made.

DD has a MA doll that is AG sized. Those can wear the AG clothing, but MA dolls come in all shapes and sizes.

I have my ma doll that I loved and played with and she still looks pretty good (and I am 50!) DD has several ma dolls. I think they are better made than the AG ones. I also have a set of ma "Little Women" dolls. I loved that story and enjoyed getting the dolls. DD has them in her room now in a case. They still look really good too.

I'm fairly sure the OP is asking about the newer 18" MA dolls ~ they are not as high quality dolls as the smaller/pricier MA dolls but are still a nice doll for the price.
