ANOTHER Adventure in Autism (4/15) A Taste of What's to Come...

I'm very excited to see you back! I've read all your TRs so far, but have yet to comment (I'm unfortunately the ultimate lurker.) I can't wait to hear about the rest of your Disney adventures!

Good news all around! Thanks for sharing!

We had many changes since your "vacation" from the DIS. Our home sold and we (the kids and I) left to join dh in Washington State. It's been an adjustment. WA is fine, just miss my Carolina blue sunshine.

We went to WDW on Thanksgiving, through to Dec. 7th. Had a blast! Trying now to convince my dh to commit to our next trip. It isn't as easy now that we are 3000 miles away from WDW. We love the vacation home we stay at, but we are going to stay on property next time and save ourselves the grief of renting a car, etc. This makes the budget explode, so it may not be until Halloween this year. :goodvibes

We have now gone during the Summer, Halloween, and for the Holiday decorations. My family overwhelming likes MNSSHP and the Fall activities the most. That or they are just humoring me. My husband is even talking about DVC. :thumbsup2

Anyway, so happy to hear back from you! I wonder if you know what happened to Buzz and Lynn. I went to find his trip report to look up something before our trip and his account was gone. :confused3

Sorry, I'm just getting re-oriented to the DIS myself. Perhaps MRSKSOMEDAY might know where they went. I remember they were close. I would ask her. :thumbsup2

Did you do a TR for your trip? I'll have to look for it!

Kathy!! You're back! Glad to hear that you and yours are doing well...I can't wait to read the rest of your report!

princess: Thanks for bumping me up to my 100th page, Princess!!

But, yikes! I can't find my trip notes anywhere!!! My gently aging brain cells are not going to be able to retrieve as much as I would like!

So glad to hear that Billy is doing well!

I totally understand the moving out, doing construction, and moving back 6 months later thing. We did that 5 years ago. It was NOT fun!

Hope you'll post some pix of the new digs--sounds like you did ALOT of work!

So, did the fly get caught in the spider's web?????

I am really annoyed at myself! :rolleyes2

I've been tearing apart boxes looking for my notes from this trip and I havn't been able to find them yet! :headache: Found my PassPorter: they're not in there. Found my Trip Binder: they're not in there. Found all the folders with embarrassing ride pix from that trip: they're not in there. Urrgh!!

"How could I have been so careless with those notes?" I vented to Ed. "I always intended to go back and finish that report!"

"You probably weren't careless, you probably put them away in such a safe place, you can't find them now" was my hubby's matter-of-fact response. I'm hoping he is correct.

Our home office is one area that is still in need of unpacking/organizing/set-up, so I still have a few more boxes that I can check. Naturally, they are all on the bottom of the stacks!

My Plan "B" is to simply finish out the report as a photo essay, which may work because I did take lots of pix. It will take a bit of time, however, because my albums at PhotoBucket mysteriously disappeared and I may have to start from scratch and upload all my pixs again! :snail:

In the meantime, I'll show off some of my newfound skills (shout-out to mrsksomeday for the tech support) and give you links to the posts on the report so far. I've found these types of links invaluable when trying to catch up to other reports, especially the chatty ones! ;)

It's going to be long, so I will continue in the next post!

It is so wonderful to see you on the Dis again!

That is wonderful news about the house, Billy doing so well, and that you found your notes....

good luck uploading all those pic's and I can't wait to read and see everything.

Kathy... So glad you are back! I know how crazy life can get but I've thought of you often and it's great to "see your face" on the Dis again! Glad all is well with you and your family

Chapter 24: A Picture Will Just Have to be Worth a Thousand Words, Now!

I made a promise to continue (and complete) my report from our trip to WDW in November, 2007, a promise which I fully intend to keep. Unfortunately, despite my searching high and low, my trip notes are nowhere to be found! Never fear, I shall persevere!

I took lots ‘o pix during our trip, so I will continue the report as a photo essay; filling in the gaps with whatever memories come to mind.

So, we pick up where we left off so many moons ago…..

It’s Nov. 6, Tuesday, the fourth day of our vacation. Our family, consisting of DH (Ed), DD (Tricia), DS (Billy), and Ed’s AR (Aunt Rae), and myself had just been granted a mini-dream of Front-of-the-Line access to the Haunted Mansion in the MK. Despite a near physical altercation  between Ed and a rather rude guest, we enjoyed seeing the new additions to the mansion and searching (in vain) for additional Hidden Mickeys. We exited the attraction and ran into some familiar faces: DSis (Marilyn) and her family: DBIL (John), and DNieces (Emily, Beth, and Josie).

Now, DSis had spent a great deal of time and effort preparing the two older girls (ages 6 and 4, respectively) for any potentially scary attractions… “Disney Magic”…. “Make-Believe” …. “Just Pretend” ….etc, etc., and so they were agreeable to trying the Haunted Mansion – as long as both Mommy and Daddy would be right there with them. The kids were small, so Marilyn hoped they could all squish into one Doom Buggy. But, as fate would have it, 2-yr old Josie had fallen asleep in the stroller, leaving her with a dilemma. She didn’t want to wake the baby and have her all cranky and crying during the ride, but the older girls wouldn’t ride if she stayed outside with the stroller.

I offered to take the sleeping Josie while the rest of the family rode. Marilyn was tempted, I know. HM is one of her all-time favorites and she didn’t want to miss it. But, she was apprehensive about leaving Josie. What if she woke up and got upset because Mommy, Daddy, and the girls were gone? I told DSis I could handle it, but she opted instead to try to carry her into the ride without waking her. (Good luck!) The girls had reservations at the Bibbity Bobbity Boutiqueand there was just enough time to squeeze in this one attraction before they became magically transformed into princesses.

We made a date to meet up at the Share a Dream Come True parade so the cousins could see it together. Then our group drifted over to FrontierLand by way of the waterfront walkway across from Tom Sawyer’s Island.

It was about midday and FrontierLand was pretty crowded. We walked up the gentle grade toward BTMRR… always a hit with the kids, but not so much with Aunt Rae. She decided to sit this one out. Because she was waiting alone and because the standby wait was so long, we opted to use the GAC and entered the FP queue. After a modest wait, we again found ourselves zipping along on the runaway train.

"Come on, You guys!!"

I hope this guy doesn't think I'm taking a picture of him!

Breathless and laughing, we met up with AR. Knowing she would also opt out of Splash Mountain, we decided to head over toward AdventureLand and save Splash for the next day. At first, it did not appear to be as crowded as FrontierLand...rather peaceful, at first.

But then, we caught sight of the line for Pirates of the Caribbean!

Both sides were open, though, and we probably made it to our boat in no more than 20 minutes. We all had fun “yo-ho-ing” to our hearts’ content.

"We wants the redhead!"

We figured we would do one more thing before stopping for a rest and a snack. We decided to fly with Aladdin. (Ed stayed on the ground to take pix, but he didn’t get too many good shots.)

This ride is just AR’s speed!

We stopped at the restrooms in the breezeway between AdventureLand and FrontierLand. Then we grabbed some snacks and found a nice, shady bench along “the waterfront”. We spent a good 20-30 minutes just resting and sipping our lemonade, watching the people go by and trying to shoo the birds away so they wouldn’t get too close to Billy (and his popcorn!)

After we had spent a good long time resting and just soaking up the MK atmosphere, we mustered up the energy to get going. CMs were already setting up the ropes along the parade route. It was time to stake our claim to a good viewing spot!:thumbsup2

:cool1: A Kathy installment!! I love your pictures!! You capture AR so accurately :lmao:. I am so happy you are posting again. I told Bill you had posted an installment and he immediately wheeled over here to look at the pictures.

I have never been on the Aladdin ride, might have to do that some time this year. I can't wait to read more!!

I love the pictures of all of you.
