ANOTHER Adventure in Autism (4/15) A Taste of What's to Come...

Hey Tricia, Bill looked like you in those pictures. I think we stopped at every single pin cart :lmao:.

I am feeling dread every time I read that AR is eating gluten for the first time in a year :headache:.

I hope you took pictures of Jessica on her Disney Park tour.
Great installment, can't wait to read more popcorn::.

The bridge pictures made me cry.... my girls so loved the bridge at the WL! So your summer trip- when are you going - Ft. Wilderness right? Just wondering and I can't remember.

We're RV camping (gulp!) at Fort Wilderness 8/17-8/28! It's still kind of tentative; the addition is still in the planning phase.....

Do the dates coincide with yours?? That would be fun!

I'm a little scared to hear what reaction AR has to the gluten! I know it's never good for Alex...

We didn't see Fantasmic this time around so I can't wait to read all about it! popcorn::

Hey Kathy! Hey Tricia! :wave2: Sorry I haven't posted much, but I have been keeping up with your trippie and I'm loving it so far.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

- ROBERT FROST
Kathy--That is one of my favorite poems! I once had an English teacher who told us that the guy had a death wish because he was stopping in the woods on a snowy evening and admiring nature. :confused3 I love admiring the snow and I sure don't have a death wish! Oh well -- what do English teachers know? ;) Anyway, I love how you preface each update with a quote, and I love all your pics too!

Tricia -- love your Ariel doll. Those dolls are so cute! And I'm exactly like you with pins...I always like to see what different shops have and then buy towards the end of the trip...especially since you never know what you're going to find on a CM lanyard!

Can't wait to hear about Jessica's (and all of your) adventures in MGM!

You may not consider a Disney-themed McDonald’s to be the most exciting choice for lunch, but I knew there would be something on the menu that everyone would eat

Nuttin' wrong with McD's! :thumbsup2

For the second day in a row she was eating foods with gluten that she had been avoiding for over a year.

Uh oh....does that mean trouble coming up??

Kathy said:
I recalled that she hadn’t been able to sleep much the past two nights and I hoped she could recharge her batteries a little back at the Villas.

Again..I have to say this. You're such a sweet lady Kathy.

Tricia, as always, took advantage of the opportunity to peruse the pin display.

She had yet to actually purchase any pins…she was just getting a feel for what was available before she made her choices.

I did the same thing! There are just soooooo many to choose from it makes it difficult.

We wound up not buying anything. Cute stuff, though! And there was a lot of Christmas merchandise for sale! :santa: What extraordinary willpower we had!

More than I have :rolleyes1

Wonderful update Kathy :thumbsup2
You're such a talented writer :goodvibes

*Update: Future WDW Trip(s)

Regretfully, Ed and I have concluded that our family will not be RV camping at Fort Wilderness this August.:sad1: It appears that renovations to our home will take longer than we expected, so we will most likely be renting an apartment locally for about three months...renting the RV is no longer an option.

I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about this. First, although I adore WDW, I was never crazy about the thought of going in August... the heat and the humidity would be difficult. So, I don't regret that. Second, we need to be practical and save every penny toward our house make-over. Getting to visit Disney, our "home away from home", cannot compare to the changes we need to make on our real home... the one we live in for the other 51 weeks out of the year!

And so, bye-bye to the August trip. *Sigh* I will try to be strong.

Now, here is where the need for pixiedust: comes in:

I believe that I've mentioned Ed having some health problems and a lot of stress at work this past year. I thought that when he left the night shift and started working days it would be so much better. It's not; in fact, the job stress has been about ten times worse. :sad2: He never quite got back to his old self, physically, after the emergency gallbladder surgery this past summer, and he's been plagued with serious dental issues lately. Blah Blah Blah.

Suffice it to say, he has not been training for the Half Marathon at WDW the way he had expected. (And, you all know from my last report how much I love to run, right?) So I haven't been training for the 5K, either. :rolleyes1

A couple of weeks ago, I was talking about the weekend trip and he just grunted and said he didn't see much reason for going anymore because he wasn't going to be able to run the race. I let it pass. Then, the same thing would happen any time I brought it up... just non-committal responses. The other day I finally just asked him straight out if we were going in January or not. He just said, "I don't know." :headache:

So, after we made the decision today that we wouldn't be going in August, I joked, "Well, then we've got to go for our weekend!" Even if we didn't participate in the running, it would still be a nice getaway for the two of us. But again, he was non-committal. I think he really would rather stay home, but he doesn't want to upset me. He's hoping that I will come out and say, "It's okay, we won't go," so he'll be off the hook!!!

Oh, husbands can just drive you crazy!

So please, my friends, send me some pixiedust so I can persuade him! I'm not going to get my "fix" next year, and so I really, really, want to go away with him for the weekend!

Thanks, and I will update ASAP!!

Kathy

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Sorry about August, although it's probably better for all involved.

Oh my ...

pixiedust: :wizard: pixiedust: :wizard: pixiedust:

I really hope things work out for you! DH and I are going kid-free marathon weekend (he's doing the half; I'm doing the full). I would be so crushed if it didn't come through for us! Hope you get to go.

Sorry about the August trip, but it sounds like you've made a wise decision.

Sorry to hear about not going in August, I happen to love going in August! (weird, I know) Were you planning to drive from NJ to WDW in the Motorhome? That seems a bit more scary if so. I hope you go in January and I'm thinking good thoughts for you!

I can't believe you've gone from 2 to perhaps 0 in a matter of a few weeks.

From one WDW nut to another, I gotta send some   your way.

Perhaps re-scheduling the trip a bit after the marathon and just having that romantic getaway might work........I know you've got skills Kathy.:thumbsup2
Maybe Ed doesn't want to be reminded what kind of shape he's in w/ all those runners down for that weekend. You know us guys got egos....:rolleyes1

If you re-scheduled say for the weekend before Valentine's day....you may get a different answer...perhaps. You're still in value season until the 13th of Feb..........

Plus I'll be there around that time.....;)

Oh Kathy... I know how disappointed you must be. (I was looking forward to the tales of the August trip). We too need to put a major addition on our house. Mastersuite, office, spare bedroom and a full playroom in the basement. I've been planning a Nov 2008 trip in my head for months now but I've been realizing that our vacation money maybe better spent on construction. Hopefully FDM won't win. I think Jordan makes a good point about going after the marathon weekend with Ed. That would be like taking me to Goofy's Candy Co and tellling me I can't get any sweets. Have you considered going to WDW with a girlfriend? (you, not Ed) And would he have any interested in getting away with the guys for a weekend? You'll make it work...you have AP's that will be calling your name.

:wizard: Pixie Power ! :wizard:

 Update! Update! Update!

Well, Ed has decided that he would rather stay home. :sad1: I wish that we were still going together, but I respect his decision.

I would love to do a Mother/Daughter trip with Tricia, but she would miss three days of school and that would not be good. If she were in second grade, I would do it in a heartbeat. But, she's in sixth grade and she already lost 2 1/2 days earlier this month. Sorry, baby.

And so, Ed suggested that I go with one of my sisters. Now, which do I choose?? They all love Disney!

Jeanne... we get along like oil and water... not gonna happen!

Marilyn... just went with her family!

Geri... just had a baby!

Teresa... possibly!

Eileen... possibly!

That narrows it down to two. I get along well with both. Hmmm. Maybe one of them won't want to go.

Doh. It's Disney.

I have to choose one.

 Okay, I think I know which one. I'm going to invite Eileen. See if you can follow my reasoning:

Eileen very graciously has stayed at our home babysitting the kids while Ed and I went off for a weekend Disney getaway. Twice. And Billy isn't your average "baby" to "sit". I think this would be a really great way to thank her. ::yes:: All she has to do is cover her park tickets and meals.

I called her and, boy, was she excited! She's just going to check with her husband (as a formality) and we'll be all set! She's calling back to confirm tomorrow, but I'm so confident I went and adjusted my ticker already!!

Thanks for the pixiedust! I'll fill you in on the details tomorrow!

Kathy
