Our family of four:
Me: age 42, obsessed with all things Disney (I'm the one that everybody comes to when they're planning a trip - I'm that crazy)
DH: age 43, stressful job, definately needed to chill on vacation!
DS: age 12, previous experience in 10-12 Oceaneer's Lab , and
DS: age 9 but turning 10 in two weeks so he goes with 10-12 yo's
We flew down on Saturday on a fairly bumpy flight from Philadelphia PA (I hate to fly but will endure it to get to anything Disney). We rented a car for the week since we are driving to WDW after the cruise. Got a great rate from National $144. for eight days, full size, Entertainment Book discount. We saw the Magic in port! We reached the Radisson in about 45 minutes. The boys wanted to swim but 5 minutes after we got to the pool a thunderstorm blew in. Oh well. We drove into Cocoa Beach to Publix to pick up a few things we forgot to pack (unfortunately I can't live a week without my hairbrush) and to pick up a case of Miller Lite, then stopped at Kelsey's, the pizza place next store, for dinner. We had pizza and a calzone - very tasty.
The next day we were on the 10:30 shuttle to the terminal. They really have a great set-up at the Radisson. We were among the first to arrive. The CM who checked us in, Sam, was from Hershey, PA about an hour from where we live in Allentown. He was extremely friendly and helpful. I believe his wife had checked us in two years ago.
I love that you can sign the kids up for the Kid's Club at the terminal - one less thing to do onboard before you start enjoying the ship. DH save a place in line while I took care of the sign-ups. At 11:45 we were able to board.
On our first cruise (10/2002) I did not tell anyone that they were going to call our name as we board. This time, we all knew and DH videotaped it! We all enjoyed the lunch buffet except for my younger DS. He ate mac'n cheese and that was about it. We have 8:30 dinner so I knew he'd wind up eating pizza at the pool anyhow.
DH and the kids enjoyed the Goofy pool while I made quick work of the Palo ressies. Our 20th Wedding Anniversary was Wednesday night, so I got there EARLY to make sure we got that night. We hung out at the pool until it was time for the boat drill. Our meeting place was Animator's Palate, which was alot better than standing on the deck.
The sail-away party was a blast as always. Afterwards, we are all starving (should have eaten more at lunch) so we grab a bite at Plutos. The kids decided to check out the lab, so DH and I unpacked and changed for dinner. We're in Triton tonight so we have to look decent. We went for a drink in the Promenade Lounge, then picked up the kids for dinner.
Our servers were Marjan from Macedonia and Jan from Czech Republic and they were awesome! The kids got Chocolate Smoothies and DH and I decide to go with the wine package. We ordered Shrimp Meley (for DH), fried Camembert (for me, just as good as last time), and tried the Vissychoise (sp) which was out of this world! We both had beef tenderloin. The kids ordered from the kids menu, but after dinner our head Server, Gaby, told them they should order off the Adult menu tomorrow night and try some new things. I had been telling them that for the last month, but maybe they'll listen to someone else!
After dinner, the kids went back to the club, DH and I went to 70's Night in Wavebands until about 12:00. Then it's off to bed until tomorrow in Nassau!
