We had an 8:30 reservation at Raglan Road and after spending some time at DisneyQuest we checked in at 8:20.
We only waited a few minutes to be seated, and were shown to a table impossibly close to it's neighbours. This had to be seen to be believed, I'm talking at most a 1.5 inch gap between 'our' table and the neighbouring tables, the only way to get in would have been to climb across the table.
I didn't complain I just laughed, and she asked if we wanted a different table. She took us to a table on the end, which had a much more reasonable gap between it and the neighbouring table, although was right next to the kitchen with it's swinging door. The other table sat unoccupied, until they put it together with the 4 top next to it to make a six top, that made the spacing much more manageable. I understand they need to pack them in, but you have to at least keep all the tables accessible to diners!
Our server greeted us quickly and offered drinks. I had a One for the Road which was vodka, midori, pineapple and orange juice. This was sweet and you could definitely taste the Midori as melon was the strongest flavour, but it was good.
Neither of us were particularly hungry and as they didn't have any vegetarian appetisers on the menu, we just went straight for the main course.
I had the Fish and Chips. This was a big portion and was very tasty. The fish was flaky and well cooked, coated in a very thin batter that probably should have been a bit crisper. The chips were well done, soft inside, crisp outside and not at all greasy, and the tartare sauce was creamy with a good tangy flavour. Overall a nice entree.
DH had the Goats town which he has tried on previous visits and really enjoyed. This time not so much! The salad was really nice with a sweet, berry dressing, but I'm not sure what was with the goats cheese as DH didn't like it at all. It had a strange flavour to it (part onion/part herby) and tasted more like boursin cheese than goats cheese. I had a taste and thought it was ok, but agreed it was a very strange tasting goats cheese.
After we'd finished our entrees, our waiter asked if we'd like dessert. When we said yes he then asked if we were on the dining plan. He brought a much smaller dessert menu than we'd had on previous visits, with only 5 choices and strangely no prices on any of the desserts. I got the impression that this the dessert menu they give customers on the dining plan, but I may be wrong and they could have just streamlined their dessert options.
I chose the Raspberry Pavlova which was a nice, reasonably light dessert. The meringue (which was much bigger than I was expecting) was thin and crisp on the outside, fluffy inside. The inside actually had a blue tinge to it which I assume was from the fruit but it was still a bit weird to be eating blue meringue. The meringue was sweet enough to complement the tart raspberries and coulis, and the cream also went well with the dish.
DH had his usual, Ger's Bread and Butter Pudding. This was just as huge, rich and filling as last time, and even though he'd hardly eaten any of his entree he still struggled to finish it. The creme anglaise and caramel sauce add just enough sweetness and moistness to the dessert, and this is still a fantastic dessert, and definitely the highlight of the meal.
So overall neither of us were too impressed with Raglan Road this time around. My entree and dessert were both fine but neither were anything special, DH hated his entree but loved his dessert. Service was fine, atmosphere was very loud and busy, overall just an ok meal. We would return but I think we'll just pop in for dessert next time.
Before going home we stopped at Goofys to use up a few snack credits. They were really busy so we avoided the make your own section and just chose from the premade snacks.
I got a chocolate covered strawberry which was gorgeous, really thick milk chocolate covering a large, ripe strawberry.
I also got marshmallows coated in chocolate and m&ms, DH got one coated in oreo crumbs. These were almost as good as the make your own treats, very sweet, we kept it in the fridge and just nibbled on them for the next few days.
