This was our last full day and we were headed back to MK. We had a 8:20 ADR at Crystal Palace for breakfast with Pooh and we also wanted to catch some of the Christmas Parade taping today. Due to the parade and EE at MK we expected large crowds today but we were pleasantly surprised.

We arrived right on time for our ADR and were seated right away. We’ve really come to enjoy this breakfast – the food offerings are very good and the character interaction is great. This morning was nice as we had a lull before the characters hit us so we could enjoy our breakfast and not feel rushed. Our server was great – kept the juice and coffee flowing. The food was hot and fresh. I enjoy the breakfast lasagna here and they had tons of the chocolate croissants that I love. Abby’s eyes were bigger than her tummy and her plate overflowed with eggs, mickey waffles and fruit! One by one we were visited by Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger. After lingering over some coffee and juice we left and walked towards the castle where they were setting up for the taping of the parade. We listened to the director talk with the extras for a while and decided to take advantage of the low crowds and make our way around the MK starting in Adventureland. We’d already hit the park earlier in the week so this was a day for our favorites. Nothing was more than a 20 minute wait – it was great!

Tomorrowland did end up getting a little full in the afternoon as the groups of kids that were there to participate in the parade got through with their filming and were set lose in the parks. We were puzzled because the standby lines got longer but the FP windows were still short. SM had a standby wait of 50 minutes at one point but you could pick up a FP for a return time in ½ hour. We finally figured out that the kids were given free entry into the parks but did not have an actual ticket so, therefore, could not get FP’s. So, we ended up FP things like SM and Buzz and were able to hit the big mountains several times.

As we passed by the castle throughout the day we caught various performances during the parade taping. We saw Vanessa Williams and Paulina Rubio as well as John O’Hurley. We didn’t see Regis and Kelly – I think they were going to start their part the next morning. It was really neat to see bits and pieces of how it all comes together and it will be fun to watch it Christmas morning and know that we were right there!

The park closed at 6 for MVMCP so we said our goodbye’s to the MK and headed back to the Poly. We had a 7:00 ADR for Kona but none of us were very hungry. We had been snacking for most of the afternoon. David went to the front desk to check our balance since we were checking out the next day. Surprisingly, we were under budget – yeah for me! David decided we should celebrate this rare occurrence by having a really nice farewell dinner. We didn’t have to think long before we decided on Narcoossees. This is usually a must eat place on every trip – in fact over the years it’s where we usually eat our first dinner to kick off our trip. But a so so meal there last year and some less than stellar reviews recently had caused it to slip off our itinerary this year. We decided to give it a shot. David checked at the Poly concierge desk (in the lobby) and they were able to get us a 9:00 ADR. Later than what I would have liked but it was already 7 and none of us were hungry. We ended up going back to the room and Abby and David rested while I packed. Since Narcoossees is a bit more upscale than your average WDW restaurant we all changed into nicer outfits and freshened up. We headed over and had about ½ hour before our our ADR so we spent some time in the lobby. If you’ve never visited the GF at Christmas you are really missing something special! It looked even more gorgeous than usual and the orchestra was playing as well as a choir of girls in front of the Christmas tree. It really was like something out of the movies. We did some shopping in some of the GF stores and it really made me realize how little Poly merchandise Boutiki carries. The GF stores had a great selection of really nice GF golf shirts, jackets, blankets, throw pillows, etc. If they carried these items at the Poly (love the Tommy Bahama stuff but I can get that here in Dallas) I would have easily dropped a lot more money on souvenirs.

We headed over to Narcoossee’s and they informed us they were running about 10 minutes behind on ADR’s. wishes was at 9:15 so they expected most people to linger at their table to watch and we should be sat around 9:30. Wow – talk about a late dinner. We headed to the bar and to our surprise our pager went of about 10 minutes later – right at 9:10. We weren’t near a window so David headed outside to watch the fireworks – Abby and I opted to stay in since it was pretty cold out and we had seen them the night before from the marina. By the time David came back in his appetizer had arrived – I opted to skip an appetizer to save room for dessert. He had the shrimp cocktail and we were surprised at how big the shrimp were. Yummy. I was so happy to see my scallops were back on the menu! They had been taken off the day before we dined here last year and I was so disappointed. But as happy as I was, I ended up opting for the surf and turf as I had been at WDW a whole week and had not yet had lobster. David copied me and ordered the surf and turf as well. Abby had the pasta. We all agreed that this year was much better than last year and our CM was much more pleasant. But, the best part of the meal was yet to come – dessert. We shared an almond crusted cheesecake (recommended by our CM) and I am going on record to say it was the best dessert I had all week! The combination of cheesecake and almonds was to die for! It reminded me of my favorite Good Humor ice cream bars growing up – the popsicles covered with almonds – only 100 times more rich and creamy. The cheesecake and Narcoossees wonderful pressed pot coffee – what a perfect way to end a perfect vacation!
