So if I understand correctly, if I buy a Dream AP and get my sons for free, I won't be able to sponser anyone and in turn get the benefit of free months right? So if in the long term I intend to visit Disney frequently am I better off getting 1 Dream AP for myself and then 2 Fantasy for my son and husband, daughter is 2 so she doens't need one right?? Ah my head hurts trying to work out which is the best value for money! Ay ay ay!

Just moving this to its' own thread as it is not a sponsorship request/offer :)

From what I understand, if you buy an adult pass and get the childs free, its the childs one that can't be extended by sponsoring, but the adult one can. Can anyone else confirm this?

That's right. The free passport has a value of €0.00 on it so it is easy to see which one cannot offer to sponsor.

so if i an still sponser, could i sponser my son when his runs out?
or could i just use the discount passes (or are they free) for him next time?

Yes, you could sponsor him when you are paying for another annual pass for him.

I looked into the discount tickets with a Dream pass, but they still work out cheaper from the likes of attractiontix or 365tickets. And of course, if you're thinking of visiting the parks for more than 3 days per year, an annual pass will be better value all round.

Thanks for that Elaine, you guys are always all so helpful! :yay:
I just checked DLRP site and for 3 day tickets for 2 adults and 1 child would cost £254 and if i buy shares and get 15% off 1 Dream AP @£133.65 and 2 Fantasy APs @ £96.31 =£326.27.
So a difference of £72.27 more to buy the APs without using the under 7 free AP.

If I buy 1 Dream AP @ £133.65 and 1 Fantasy AP @ £96.31 and get my sons for free,it should cost £229.96 so a saving of £24.04 on buying hopper tickets
and a saving of £96.31 (of course!)

So after all that math,
Where exactly do you buy the APs and will they let me get my sons free, as it's not advertised on the UK site??

If your DS's pass was free then no you cannot sponsor him. Free passes have to be renewed by paying for the renewall year. Effectively as I've recorded elsewhere the astute person could only be paying for an annual passport every two years :)

Sorry for being a bit dense, but I don't get you??

Sorry probably typed this to fast ;)

If you have an annual passport which was free under the "free for under 7 promotion" or an annual passport which you previously had free months/year added because you sponsored a number of people. Then neither of these passports can have additional free months/year added.
In other words in both of these instances these passports cannot sponsor anyone to get the 10% discount. The annual passport bureau will also not add on any free months/year to your passport in these instances.

Hope that is a bit clearer :)

Also I'm even more dense cos when i did the previous math i foolishly forgot to take off the 15% from the converted (euro to pound) price so again:
1 Dream AP after discount =£116.21
2 Fantasy AP after discount = £163.74
equals=£279.95

so actually only £25.95 more for APs than 3 x 2 day hoppers, then i get to go again with out having to pay for entry!

Still trying to figure out how to buy shares online :surfweb:
Decisions decisions...

i see, so you can only ever have a 2 year AP at max through sponsering, you pay for 1st year then get up to a year added trough sponsering, then you have to buy a new AP?
And if i get the under 7 free, I'm effectively getting the 2 years without sponsering, just divided between 2 people with a year each?
have i understood correctly?!

Yes this is sort of right.

Year 1 purchase your annual passport
Year 2 through sponsoring get a free year
Year 3 renew your passport by paying for the year
Year 4 through sponsoring get a free year
and so on

For the free child passport the cycle would be

Year 1 receive free annual passport
Year 2 renew your passport by paying for the year
Year 3 through sponsoring get a free year
Year 4 renew your passport by paying for the year
and so on..... :)

Thanks - that's really helpful for us too as we're planning to use the free under 7 AP offer too.

I didn't know about the shares discount though - does anyone know how/where you buy shares (online?) and roughly how much they cost? Also is it too late to do this and get the discount in time for before the free pass offer runs out in April?

Sorry one last question - if we buy one dream AP (with free child) plus one fantasy AP, but then decide we want to go on a date (e.g. Halloween) which is blackout on the fantasy AP - would we be able to upgrade it to a dream AP? (does that make sense?!)

Hi,

You can't upgade a Fantasy pass to a Dream pass during Fantasy pass blackout days, but you can just buy normal park tickets at normal park prices on blackout days.

You also can't combine the free annual pass offer with the shareholder discount, but you can do it in separate transactions ie buy the fantasy pass with shareholders discount, and then after that buy your Dream pass and get your childs one free.

Thanks, it probably makes sense to get a dream pass in the first place then. otherwise no doubt we'll want to go on a blackout day later in the year

Thanks for the share info - I've got no idea how much they cost though  Is it worth buying the minimum to get discount on one dream pass?

You can get sponsorship from members here for 10% discount on the cost of one Dream pass, if thats easier for you than getting shares yourself?

You can't combine the 10% sponsorship with the free childs pass either, but again, if you buy the 2 adult Dream passes separately, you could get one free childs one with one adult pass, and 10% sponsor discount on the other.

Elaine

Hi sorry for another AP question, but, it IS an awfully long thread...
if someone sponsors me, and i go in april, how do i get the tickets? since i would want the APs to start in april, and wouldn't get the tickets til i arrive i presume, how does one book a room before hand??
Thanks! If your answer is expedia, i keep trying but i can't find the pages that let you do room only, and also I'd want to use Dream AP booking discount??
