Annual Passholders alert! No more discounts by phone beginning 10/5/05

I am very upset with Disney - no longer are giving AP discounts for rooms. You must do it online 60 days or longer in advance and then it could be the rack rate. I have been waiting for the AP rates for 10/5-12/19/05. Central Reservations announced to me today that they are even surprised - no longer can you book reservations by phone less than 60 days. Took away our discounts!

It is definitely true - I spoke with guest relations as well - a passholder cannot get any room discounts by phone anymore - and when you use the website - rooms are just not available. CR said they are getting endless complaints from passholders - I made 2 reservations back in June and have been waiting for the discounts to be announced to get the rate adjustment. No longer can do that.

So are they making us do everything online instead? Is this their way of getting rid of CR personnel?

I suggest you visit the Codes and rates board on the Disney Resorts board. This topic has been discussed quite a bit.

that we book online and then we get whatever the best deal is?

The idea being that we don't have to keep checking and calling for the best rate?

Or is it going to be that we now do not get any discount and just get whatever rate we happen to get when we book?


I'm wondering if it is worth getting an annual pass anymore. Ours expires after this trip and we are planning another trip next October.

I guess getting an AP only for the room discount may have saved people some $$ in the past, but really was not the intention of the AP. I figure I get it for admission because it is the ticket media that works best for us and if I can get a discount all the better. At first I didn't understand the new AP room rate procedure, but others helped me to better comprehend it and so long as they are not dropping that BRP I'm sure discounts will be available. Even without them, I'd still buy an AP.
