Annual Passholder's 2011 Eats! Updated 7/11

Following, love the reviews so far!! Roo is too cute!! She definitely looks like she has mastered the highchair!!Can't wait for more!!

Roo is adorablle!...and you all look so relaxed at B&C! Loving the reviews!:flower3:

I'm glad I gave off the relaxed vibe, I was a tense mess! You can kind of see me clutching the table because I could just picture my sweet baby smashing her head into it's edge!!!!:lmao:

A No Way Jose at B&C is my favorite dessert!
Your Roo is a cutie!

Were you at Winnie Palmer with her, if you don't mind me asking? My daughter who lives in Clermont had a PPROM at 29 weeks and had her baby there. I flew down to be with her and boy that is one great hospital.

I was not at Winnie Palmer but my sister-in-law was about 2 months before Roo was born so I spent a lot of time there last summer. My twin nephews were in the Winnie Palmer NICU for 3 weeks! It is a wonderful hospital, if they could've combined some things with my hospital they'd have the perfect NICU. What was really nice about WP was that the NICU mama's have their own floor. My hospital was really small and had one maternity floor so I was with all the other mama's. Those first couple of days of not being with my baby but hearing all the other babies around me was excruciating! But the Winter Park Hospital NICU had personal NICU rooms for each of the NICU babies (there were only 3 of them) so I felt very comfortable with skin-to-skin time.

The food at Winnie Palmer was amazing though! Even as a guest I appreciated that. :thumbsup2

Roo is just too stinking cute!!!!!:goodvibes

Enjoying your reviews; can't wait to read more. :)

Just found your reviews and I love them!!
It must be wonderful to live so close to WDW :)
Looking forward to reading more

Thanks so much! I'm looking forward to writing more and doing research. For the good of the masses of course!

After delicious tacos and a boat ride (Roo liked it very much but she's also a fan of Small World) I had planned to eat and drink around the world!

Good intentions... but we all know what happens to those.

We went to Norway and the line for Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe was very long. So I decided to skip the Cloudhorn I had planned and we went on Maelstrom. Roo fell asleep.

I was planning on a peachy alcoholic slushie (I think it's a frozen Peach Oolong Tea officially) in China but I didn't want to manage an alcoholic slushie with a sleeping child attached to my front (we use a baby bjorn).

And also, the truth is, I was still full from the tacos.

But by the time we got to Germany I was feeling a little peckish! And I have been having a long-time love affair with caramel. I couldn't ignore the delicious smells coming from Karamell Kuche.

The smell is definitely part of the experience. It's amazing. We both got a caramel with marshmallow creme swirled throughout and a bottle of water.

This caramel was so amazingly good. I would like some right now! It was very rich though so this small tasting was a perfect size. Something that I really liked about the caramel was it's elasticity. I know that might sound weird but it wasn't so stretchy that it was all over my chin and/or Roo's head.

We ate our caramels and drank our water next to Beirgarten. I just wanted some shade, it was hot! But soon enough we were back out again. I don't like sitting at a table too long at Disney because I feel like someone's watching me ready to pounce! :yay: Most of the time I'm right!

P.S. The smiley above is not to say "Yay someone's going to pounce on me" but rather to illustrate said pouncing.

I've started planning Roo's 1st birthday because I've recently been informed that I am behind the times on children's birthday parties at parks and you have to reserve the park 350-something days before your child's birthday.

I lucked out and got a Sunday before her birthday at a coveted park that has a splash pad. But that is irrelevant.

What IS relevant is that it got me thinking about the rest of her birthday. It's September 30th and a Friday and Mr. Incredible has the day off.

Of course we will be going to Disney.

Of course special dining must be had.

Of course there will be an outfit.

So then I got to thinking wouldn't it be awesome to ALWAYS have dinner at Chef Mickey's on her birthday!

So I immediatly went to make a dining reservation and I'm sure you seasoned Dis'ers are

We've never done character dining and we've never tried to get a specific reservation for a specific date. It's always "When's the next time I can get a reservation at Le Cellier?" or something.

Reserving character dining is no joke! I knew you had to get online super early for the castle but for Chef Mickeys? Heck, I can't even get Hollywood and Vine for her birthday!

So at least 4 times today (every time I get a crack at my computer) I have searched for character dining reservations on 9/30. Any time of day.

Here's my top 3 choices:

1. Chef Mickey's
2. Crystal Palace
3. Cinderella's Royal Table

I'm obviously shooting for MK.

I managed to secure a breakfast reservation at 1900 Park Fare as a back-up but I'm going to keep trying for something else.

I was thinking Ohana as well but the Disney site says they just have Lilo and Stitch but I think somewhere I saw there were other characters as well. I'll have to do some more research on the Dis and figure out what the best choice is.

Next year I will be more prepared!!!!

After our refreshing caramel break we walked through Italy, America, Japan, and Morocco. Roo slept the entire time. She finally woke up just as we were entering France.

Btw... my original plans were Italy: Rosa Regale and chocolate; America: Funnel cake; Japan: California Rolls and Plum Wine.

I remembered seeing a bathroom near Morocco and since Roo seemed to weigh a couple of extra pounds we doubled back. :)

After a change it was apparent that Roo also needed to eat. So we grabbed a table in Tangierine Cafe and started to feed her.

Well, I can't sit at a table and not eat! So I went to the little bakery off to the side and got a Tangierine Daiquiri and baklava.

I was debating the daiquiri because I had really wanted a Grey Goose slushie from France. In the end I was happy I got the daiquiri because it was very yummy and refreshing! However I was disappointed in the way it was served, in a hot tea cup with a straw squished in the opening!

I was also disappointed in the baklava. It tasted a bit off, I couldn't really place why. Maybe it's just not meant to go with a daiquiri?

When we were all done Mr. Incredible and I realized that it was probably time to go. Roo looked hot and I was hot from carrying her and it was hot and we wanted a pool.

My plans of France: Grey Goose slushie and eclair; England: fish and chips; Canada: candy candy candy! were put on hold.

On our way back to Old Key West I began to plan out a day for just Mr. Incredible and I drinking and eating throughout Epcot. This is something I really want to do! Save a bunch of money and then just go around the World Showcase shopping and eating and drinking to my heart's content.

Well, at least one of those dreams will come true this November! :cloud9:

My niece is turning 21 the day before Thanksgiving. She was bummed because all of her friends will be leaving college (she attends University of Florida) that day and she will have no one to drink with. I, in my infinite wisdom of having a niece for all of 1.5 years now, graciously offered to drink around the world with her! I think I pulled my sister-in-law in for good measure (we've all got the annual passes).

Now, I realize that for a 21-year old drinking around the world with her aunts might not be the best birthday but I'm excited! :lmao: I'm thinking of making up little maps and a drunk scavenger hunt and then a memorial scrapbook? I thought about shirts but I'm still trying to be the cool aunt. :hippie:

After an afternoon in the pool I started dreaming about Mr. Incredible running over to Wolfgang Puck Express and delivering me a pizza. But Mr. Incredible had other ideas...

He wanted someone else (a pizza delivery person) to deliver our pizza. From Sassagoula Pizza Express.

Fine. We ordered a regular pepperoni pie.

The price wasn't too bad I suppose. At $20 for delivery and tip it was more than Dominos would run us but we all know where we're at. That mouse has champagne tastes and you and I are there to fund them!

Dominos is like ambrosia compared to this pizza in my humble opinion. I was not a fan. The sauce was too thin and tasteless. The crust was too chewy and kind of the texture of paste underneath the sauce. There was not enough cheese. I think I ate one slice and then ate a bucket of GiGi's pasta salad.

GiGi is currently camped out on my living room couch. She should make some pasta salad tomorrow.

Mr. Incredible really liked it. That night, laying in our giant OKW king bed he said "That pizza was really good." I gave a non-commital "eh."

Mr. Incredible can order this next time if he wants... I'll go get my own 4 cheese pizza from WPE to go!

I was not at Winnie Palmer but my sister-in-law was about 2 months before Roo was born so I spent a lot of time there last summer. My twin nephews were in the Winnie Palmer NICU for 3 weeks! I agree on the food at WP, I was there a week with my DD, so I ate alot of it.
I hope your nephews are doing great now. My grandson, who spent 2 months in WP NICU, is doing great!

I love reading your updates popcorn::

Thank you! I love reading yours as well, I really need to unlurk!

They are doing very well! It's so nice to hear about other preemies doing great. :goodvibes

After no lines and quick rides on It's a Small World (Roo's favorite), Haunted Mansion (my favorite) and Pirates (Mr. Incredible's favorite) we had plenty of time before our reservations at Tony's. We hadn't had a big breakfast so we decided to get a special treat, a Dole Whip!

There's not too much to say about a soft serve Pineapple Dole Whip that hasn't been already said on these boards! Instead, I'll share a new experience with you.

Roo's first sweet treat.

At first she was a little shocked by the cold but she quickly got over it and ate a couple more small bites. After awhile of not having any she made noises to try some more.

Hoping not to get "health flamed" for this! Our meal plan had us starting her on dairy that week and it's not like we do this all the time! Plus, there's fruit in it, right? She eats very healthy (favorite food is green beans) and drinks tons of water. It's all about balance. :)

Although our soft serve was wonderful as usual I did recently see another trip report (MonorailMagic415's Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem’s Free Dining Extravaganza) where they had a orange soft serve with pineapple juice float. I think that we'll be trying that this August when Mr. Incredible's seasonal pass is working again.

Wow Roo is a cutie!!!

For what it's worth I'm pretty sure Dole Whips don't count as dairy. Not dairy free -for those that are allergic - but not dairy either.

I'm loving your report, please keep it up! :)

I can't remember the last time I had table service in the MK so I made lunch reservations at Tony's that day.

So, hopefully this will save someone else from further embarressment. Even though there was a podium outside Tony's (which I stood at for quite awhile) if no one is there then you should go inside where the real check-in is. I had no idea! Luckily a nice cast member observed my clueless moment and directed me inside.
Inside the decor was slightly worn out looking. Like an older Italian joint. :) There was Lady and the Tramp playing in the background. We checked in and were quickly seated. We received a high chair.

And ordered quickly. We were really hungry!

We were seated in a really nice solarium type room. It was right off of Main Street and was very nice and cool. If we would've gotten a window seat we could've people-watched in comfort! But we were placed in a corner with plants which is perfectly good. Let some kid who's going to remember this get the best seats! :rotfl:

I knew immediately what I wanted to order us for an appetizer, Zucchini Fries - Breaded seasoned Zucchini with Creamy Sun-dried Tomato Dressing for dipping.

IMG_0189 by michaelsnead, on Flickr

These were really good. We often make these at home but I enjoyed having them and not having to make them. The zucchini was cut long and skinny (as opposed to short and fat like I cut them) and I will be cutting my zucchini this way for fries now. The fries were very tender and deliciously seasoned. I loved the sun-dried tomato dressing! It added a little extra zest when I got bored with just plain breading.

We finished the zucchini fries pretty quickly and about 5 minutes later our order appeared!

Mr. Incredible ordered the Spaghetti - with choice of Meatballs with Marinara Sauce

IMG_0192 by michaelsnead, on Flickr

He said this was just ok. We had Wolfgang Puck Express the next week and he liked theirs much better. I think the meatballs were too dry and the sauce and noodles were nothing special.

I decided to have something different (for me anyway) Chicken Florentine Calzone - Chicken, Spinach, Caramelized Onions, and Mozzarella

IMG_0193 by michaelsnead, on Flickr

I thought this was awesome! I was a bit afraid it would be dry but it was full of cheese and a cream sauce. There was a ton of chicken and spinach and it was really very very good. The crust was the best part! Very crispy and flavorful. I was really surprised at how much I liked this dish and plan on going back to Tony's very very soon!

We did not get dessert because we were absolutely stuffed and feeling the Disney exhaustion. So we went home for a weekend of beach and family fun and to get ready for Saratoga Springs starting on Memorial Day!

Loving your reports. We live south of Tampa and try to get over once a month or so. WOuld live to go every other Friday.:)

Great reviews!! Your little Roo is ADORABLE!!! OMG!!! Your family is just beautiful! Can't wait to read more. :goodvibes:goodvibes

I'm totally joining in! We want to move down to FL and do the same thing as you :) Next year...gotta get hitched first!! I'm curious about your job, so I'm sending you a PM if you don't mind!

I'm enjoying your report especially about the Dole Whip for the little one and plans for her first birthday. It really brings back memories for me although my "little ones" are 28 and 24 respectively.

DD28, was 11 mos. old during her first trip to WDW at which time she had a few bites of a Mickey Ice Cream Bar. Any self-respecting Disney lover should have Disney ice cream or a Dole Whip as their first treat. To heck with the nutrition police, say! :)

We took DS24 to the Hoop Dee Doo on his first birthday. They stopped the show to introduce him and that he was "one year old today". That was a special Disney moment.

Thanks for helping me to remember.
