we need to look into some resuable bottles with built in filters or something. Our upcoming trip is the first one in years where we won't have a stroller that we could just store bottles of water in so will be traveling lighter but still want to make sure we have water with us when we need it
The good news is, if you fill up from the cups they give out at the QS, you won't need the filter. Opens up to a wider variety of water bottles. The pain is carrying them around. We just don't bother and get water when we want it. I'd just end up putting the bottle down somewhere if I tried to carry something. I went with a family once who used a camelback. Worked great but we are bagless too.

My plan is to take advantage of the free water or buy a bottle on occasion. I know my kids would lose a refillable bottle, and I'm not willing to schlep them for the whole party.

I know I will likely have a small bag with me at most times so will likely get one bottle, maybe one with a carabener I can hook to a strap or something, that my wife and I can share just to have something but will leverage the free water a lot too

Thanks for all the thoughts everyone - sorry for taking this thread on a tangent

Everyone at WDW stay hydrated! I'm hoping the heat wave breaks before our trip next month! Looks like I'm going to be out of luck on the previews if they drop in the next week. I'm going to be out of cell range for a week. If it drops good luck to all (dare I say "May the Force be with you")

This is really important for the littles who can't feel dehydration coming on but also the older guests. I don't know why I see so many elderly guests at Disney in the summer but I do .... and way too common to see them sitting or laying with medics next to them. I travel with a son who is disabled and rarely asks for a drink, when he does I know I've screwed up on intake. Be the bossy person who reminds everyone ..... but remember you can over-hydrate and it can be just as dangerous.

Ideas for those with less or no bags ...
- Drink a large glass or bottle of water with breakfast
- Buy the water, will be the best investment you can make
- If you can drink it, opt for Powerade at least once a day
- Powerade is a plus when needing hydration, not as regular drink
- Florida water doesn't taste so great if not filtered, true
- Bring filtered bottles, I have some Brita that are "soft" plastic, easier to carry
- Pack everyone bottle slings and have them wear and remind to drink
- If using tap bring "MiO" of similar drops or packets to flavor
- OR buy one Powerade, split among bottles then add tap water
- Full Service Quick Serve offer free ice water to anyone
- Walk up kiosks do not have access to water or clean ice
- When eating at QS we always ask for ice water even if getting soda
- We make everyone drink that water with meal before we go outside
- Bring the cooling towels or neck rings, wear hats, sunglasses
- We also have fans we can hang around the neck and we forget they are there

It doesn't take long to end up being attended by medics and ruining your day. Especially since everyone here is waiting on SWGE info, anticipating long lines for land and once inside .... August will be just as hot.

That goes for you too @GADisneyDad14 😉

Just to clarify, it's not just the inside Quick Service that offer free ice water. Basically, any walk-up window or location that has a soda fountain will give you free ice water.

Yes, I guess I was strict in defining "inside" when I mean full serve quick serve as opposed to the walk up kiosks. I will adjust that.

I knew you knew...just didn't want someone else to take it too literally. There seem to be a LOT of people who don't know about that little perk.

Most likely because they want to travel with their grands who are on school breaks and it's the time they can take a vacation.
Or they are like me and thrive in the heat and wither up in the cold. Even the temps in FL in the winter are cold to this southern gal. This heat, it's like mother's milk to me. LOL
We are just about as hot right now and DGD and I've been enjoying all day outside this week. At the pool so we can cool off but heck, at Disney we just dart right inside an airconditioned buildings. Same difference.
If only DH got on the same page. He's the opposite and does suffer in the heat. He's not looking forward to our trips next week or in August.
