This is really important for the littles who can't feel dehydration coming on but also the older guests.
I don't know why I see so many elderly guests at Disney in the summer but I do .... and way too common to see them sitting or laying with medics next to them. I travel with a son who is disabled and rarely asks for a drink, when he does I know I've screwed up on intake. Be the bossy person who reminds everyone ..... but remember you can over-hydrate and it can be just as dangerous.
Ideas for those with less or no bags ...
- Drink a large glass or bottle of water with breakfast
- Buy the water, will be the best investment you can make
- If you can drink it, opt for Powerade at least once a day
- Powerade is a plus when needing hydration, not as regular drink
- Florida water doesn't taste so great if not filtered, true
- Bring filtered bottles, I have some Brita that are "soft" plastic, easier to carry
- Pack everyone bottle slings and have them wear and remind to drink
- If using tap bring "MiO" of similar drops or packets to flavor
- OR buy one Powerade, split among bottles then add tap water
- Full Service Quick Serve offer free ice water to anyone
- Walk up kiosks do not have access to water or clean ice
- When eating at QS we always ask for ice water even if getting soda
- We make everyone drink that water with meal before we go outside
- Bring the
cooling towels or neck rings, wear hats, sunglasses
- We also have fans we can hang around the neck and we forget they are there
It doesn't take long to end up being attended by medics and ruining your day. Especially since everyone here is waiting on SWGE info, anticipating long lines for land and once inside .... August will be just as hot.
That goes for you too
