Alright here's the deal:

We have the Fl. resident platinum annual passes, and just renewed last month for 2017. I lost my discount card that you have to show to get the AP discount on food/merchandise. I called Disney to ask them to send me another card. Well I spent 50mins on the phone, I was literally sent to 5 different departments, then they started sending me to departments I had already talked to and couldn't help. So I ended up just writing an email. The response I received said basically that the "discount cards are no longer being used, just use your AP ticket as the discount card." I responded "I don't have an AP ticket, I have a magic band." Disney did not respond to my magic band question.

My question is this: What is Disney's policy for the AP discount for 2017? How are they verifying I am and AP holder?

Thank you in advance!!

Also waiting for an answer to this! Maybe they can just scan the MB at last and you just give ID like with the card.

I purchased an AP in 4/15, got my card. When I renewed 4/16 they never sent me a new one... places still accept the old.

There must be some method to scan MBs; friend and I were at lunch at Via and she had forgotten to move her AP card to her purse for Dapper Day. They scanned her MB, had her lunch in her pin, and used that to verify her discount.

We renewed our Annual Pass in October and stopped by guest relations to pick up a hard card. We have been asked to show our AP card and photo ID (drivers license) when asking for the 20% discount. They check the signature on the AP card to see if it matches the signature on the ID.

The CMs have explained that they can't see that you have an AP when scanning your MB when you are in a store or restaurant. That is why they ask for the card.

as a PP said go to GR and ask for a mother card I was given one because I did not like my MB on me and I just asked for a card in stead she scanned my MB went to the draw and got a AP card out wrote my name on it and handed it too be took may be 3 minutes. phone CM really know nothing at all.

Exactly! Don't call.... they don't "send" a new one. Simply go to the Guest Relations window at any park with your magic band and ID and they will print a new yellow AP card. Takes less then 5 minutes! Sorry you wasted so much time on the phone.... it's something they only do at the park.

Just go to guest services and ask for one.

I always have my AP card and my ID ready to show. A couple of times the CM has just looked at the AP slider on my MB and didn't want to see anything else. I thought that was kind of strange. (I'm not advocating to try to use your slider as AP proof. Get a card and have ID like the PP said. I just thought it was interesting that a few of the CM's just wanted to see the MB slider.)

I'm surprised they don't have some way to scan it. I'm sure plenty of people use it for the discount after it's actually expired.

I just upgraded to an AP in October.

I was given my yellow pass holder card and told to write (not sign) my name on the back with the sharpie the CM handed me.

I was asked for my ID every time I used my 20% discount (as well I should have been) and they always flipped the pass over to check my written name matched the one on my ID.

I guess there is no norm when it comes to using your AP for discounts. o_O

Do pass holders get free parking and if so do I just have to show the yellow card? Do they ask for an ID also?

I've always just shown yellow passholder card and Id. At parking I've either just flashed Ap card or they scanned my MB. I was also staying on site so I can't say scanning MB showed them AP status

I wish they would find some way to add AP info to the magic band so we didn't have to have the hard copy AP card and picture ID with us. Can they not take our picture and add it to our profile so that when the magic band is scanned the CM can see who it belongs to and apply the discount?? I know they take pictures of people at the turnstiles if they are having issues with their magic bands and those pictures are attached to that particular magic band. So the technology is there. Seems like it would be a time saver from a CM and guest perspective. So what's the hold-up Disney??

Exactly.

My card says valid for 2016/2017. My name and picture ID is always checked. But they have no way to know if my AP has already expired for the year.

In August most restaurants just scanned the MB and most retail places asked for the card and ID. Your AP is on the band or else you wouldn't be able to get into a park. As a PP stated there is no norm when it comes to AP discounts.I have found the easiest thing to do for parking is just flash the card...nobody ever looked at it closely, they just wave you on. We got a parking pass from the GF but none from the Poly. It would be so much easier if everyone would have the same procedures and all CM's knew them. When I asked for a card in August the CM couldn't understand why I wanted one, she said it wasn't needed, and I tried to explain that you need it for the discounts since most everyplace asks for it. I thought I would have to go to another GS but in the end she reluctantly gave me one.

Do pass holders get free parking and if so do I just have to show the yellow card? Do they ask for an ID also?

Yes, parking is free. What they ask to see may vary. I've had them ask for the card and ID, I've told them that I have an AP and been waved thru, I've had my MB scanned...it seems to depend on the CM. The official answer is that you are supposed to show your card and ID.

I actually asked once what they look at they said they look to see if it's in date, and that the names match.
