Annual Passes

I just booked an AP rate, and I have a few questions about Annual Passes that I'd like to see if anyone can answer. Aw, heck, I know you can answer. But I'll be timing all of ya. :earsboy: :earsboy:

1. Where's the cheapest place to purchase my annual pass? It seems only Disney sells them for all the same price.

2. Can I show my voucher at the hotel, or does it have to be the actual pass itself? This would inconvenience my check-in a little if I have to go exchange my voucher ahead of time.

3. Can you redeem vouchers at DD? I was told by a CM on the phone that you can only purchase the actual passes there, not redeem previously purchased vouchers.

4. Does anyone have a list of the multitude of discounts that are made available to AP holders? I know there are a bunch, just want to make sure I know about the good ones.

Thanks so much in advance everyone! :earsboy: :earsboy:

I do not have AP passes yet and this is the first yr we are buying them but this is what I was told by a CM, you can only by them through Disney and you can check in with the invoice and go to any ticket place to get the passes. If anyone out there has done this I, too, would love to know because it happens all the time that you get different info from different CM's.

The only place you can buy AP's is from Disney. You cannot get them from AAA or a ticket wholesaler. They will cost you $392.99 anywhere you get them. The only discount currently available on them is for Florida residents or military personnel.

You are supposed to have the actual AP but that's not set in concrete. Most front desk CM's will allow you to check in with the voucher. Your worst case scenario if they don't is that they will give you 24 hours to get it activated and return to the front desk to show it.

Your phone CM was wrong. You can exchange the vouchers at either of the two Guest Relations offices at DTD. There's one in Marketplace next to Once Upon a Toy and one in West Side on the PI side of the AMC theatres.

You can use the voucher.
I have stayed a dozen times on Ap discounts and only once was even asked to show anything at the front desk.
When you cash in your voucher your AP will come in a sleeve that lists all the discounts.
From my experience the most convenient place to convert the voucher was at the World Showcase entrence to EPcot

WE have had APs for probably the last 12 years. The only advice I can give is to make sure the price is not going up. We purchased ours at our Disney Store in our area and then turned the voucher in at Epcot. Once we did not realize there would be a price increase and we purchased them a week too late. The voucher does not expire so what we do is buy one every other month the year before we go. It is not such a huge chunk of money going out all at once. AND if you charge them on a charge that gives you a reward then you at least get a discount that way at the end of the year.

I've read some where that you can trade in your uph multi day ticket while you are at the resort for an ap and just pay the difference. It's called upgrading. Has anyone done this or heard about it? Or maybe it came from one of my many dreams about the world!
We are going in June, staying at WL with great hubby and 2 princess'. Can't wait. I'm already planning a trip for December if I can trade in my uph to get ap rates. Any advice on both the ap trade and on best dates for December? We have to go when school is out.
Thanks!!
How long does it take to get a response? I've never checked. I guess I'll sit here and wait a few minutes.:teeth:

A UPH can be upgraded as long it is not part of a pre-purchased package. Anything that comes as part of a package such as Dream Maker is not upgradeable or changeable in any way. The transaction cannot be done at the resort as they do not sell AP's there. You would have to go to Guest Relations after you check in to have it taken care of.
