Hi Everyone,

I was on the phone with Disney reservations today for a cash stay in November. I noticed they had discounts on tickets, but not on annual passes. I had happened to mention we owned in the Disney Vacation Club (SSR bought this August). He said well then you are a Florida resident. You owned property in Florida and you can get a Florida annual pass which is a good bit cheaper than the regular annual passes. Not the Florida seasonal pass either. I guess about $393 versus $318 for the regular Florida annual pass.

Are there any of you out there that done't live your everyday life in Florida, but use the fact that you own DVC to get a Florida annual pass? In the long run we thought annual may be the way to go for our family.

Thanks.

That is another glaring example of CMs not knowing what they are talking about. If you can take advantage of it, go for it, but, our membership, unfortunately, does not entitle us to resident discounts.

i would have bought my annual passes right there and then, then i would have bought everyone i new a annual pass, heck i would have bought annaul passes for everyone that i didnt know(only if they would have paid me back, of course).

that was one topic we had covered with our guide, whether or not buying a timeshare like dvc of course would we be consider fl. residents, and the answer is ? NO.
under florida laws, owning a timeshare in florida doesnt consider you a florida residents.
sorry, i hope you did take the advantage of the fl. res. annual price though:sunny:

Did you get the CM's name. I will keep calling back and hanging up the phone until I get through to him.;)

Just be careful, chances are you are buying an annual pass "Voucher" that you redeem once you get to WDW, when you go to redeem it, thats when they ask you for your proof of Florida residence, (Florida ID, Voter Registration Card, Utility Bill.) I don't think the deed will count as proof of residency. It may work, and if it does that's great, but be prepared to trade in for a regular annual pass.(and pay the difference$)

You will have to show proof or residency on arrival and you will not qualify. Disney giveth and Disney taketh away.

Somewhere in the papers you signed at purchase is a declaration that ownership of DVC alone does not qualify you for Florida resident discounts.

Perhaps you can qualify if you own another timeshare, but Disney specifically excludes DVC. We all wish it were not so.

As Gail already posted, that CM was misinformed.
