We are going in Aug 09 and we will buying APs. Is there any advantage to purchasing them now in 08? Will they go up in price in 09? Thanks for your help.

The price does seem to go up every year so you may want to purchase now. I don't remember when the price increase happened this year but think it was August or early September. You will get a voucher that needs to be converted to the actual pass when you get to Disney. It will then be good from the day you activate it for the next 365 days.

They tend to go up every year. They last went up on August 3rd. We paid $370.62 for each adult AP. The price is now $392.99 per pass so it was almost a $100 savings for the 4 of us.

If you know you're definitely going to get the APs then I would buy them as soon as you are able. You will get a voucher that you will exchange for the actual AP. The clock will start ticking on the AP at that point.

Maybe I am not right on my math, but I thought we could use our DVC discount on AP and that would make it cheaper than a 10 day ticket for us?

Hope it's okay to piggyback another question on to your thread...How do you buy the APs in advance and still get the DVC discount? Thanks!

Yes, the DVC rate for a new adult AP (not premium) is $348 (rounded) and a 10-day pass with park hopping and no expiration is $402.

The DVC renewal rate for the adult AP is $304.

You can call MS or WDW ticket sales directly and provide your DVC info and they will send you the voucher. You will need to have you DVC ID and photo ID with you when you redeem the voucher for the actual AP at WDW.

You can access the discounted passes throught the DVC Members website. The link will take you to the Disney website and the DVC discount will be displayed. We buy our passes a couple of years in advance.
