Any park will be able to issue you your tickets either at the gate or inside at Guest Services. We always go to Guest Services because it's less of a hassle and air conditioned (LOL).
Not anymore. All Disney offsite FL locations (airport, malls, etc) now sell vouchers that need to be exchanged. No more activated AP's sold off site since at least the end of March 2006.
Now, I always wait til I get there. I tried to order the voucher online once. For some reason, they sent me the Florida Resident's renewal voucher instead (Hello, you're sending it to Texas-isn't something wrong here?). And I knew a few other people who had gotten the wrong thing, too. There was no problem, just send it back and they sent me the correct one. All this took time and hassle. So now I just wait til I get there.
I always buy my voucher in advance, but I also buy extra MYW and pay for hotels in advance. I do give Disney the money in advance so that I don't have to worry about budgeting or anything else. You get to the park early, exchange your voucher, and go have fun!
Do you still need to have the number off the voucher to get an AP discount on rooms? It seemed to me that's what we did a few years ago, but now with the new online booking of AP discounted rooms I dunno. That's probably the biggest reasons to get the voucher ahead of time. That AP discount can be pretty significant.

We have never been asked to "show" our passes or our voucher at the desk.
I know that, with the central info all on a computer, they can SEE if you have purchased an AP, if need be.
I would (for that reason) buy the voucher in advance (so the SALE of it was in the computer, just in case) but I wouldn't worry about not actually HAVING it with you at check-in.
We ordered our AP's this last trip 3 days prior to arrival.
That meant, of course, that they could not MAIL the vouchers to us in time, so our AP's were scheduled (by the CM on the phone) to be picked up by us at "will-call" (that's any of the park's Guest Relations windows).
We arrived DME from the airport to the resort (were going to pick up the AP's at MK AFTER we checked in)... and we DID check in (AP discount) with no problems at all.

You need the actual pass to get the rate, or maybe just the voucher when you get there. (You can book the room without a pass or voucher by just using the codes, but you need to show them when you check-in. EDIT: or maybe you don't...thanks Robo. ) But you do need the number on the voucher to log into the Passholder site on disney.com. That and the advantage of spreading out the cost a bit is why we have vouchers at home right now.
