Annual passes- how far in advance?

I see there's a promo to get 3 extra months on seasonal & annual passes if you purchase before Sept. 30th. Our trip isn't until August 2021. Does anyone know how far in advance APs can be purchased before using them? We're getting the seasonal pass for our kids and my husband and the preferred pass for me.

I have never seen a definite answer but that should not be an issue many people do this.
You can always email them for an exact answer - but Id say it is more than a year - especially in the current situation.

I don't think they get in early with me but that would be great if they did! We were looking at getting the preferred pass just for me for the free parking. Two of the 3 trips we are planning in 2021-2022 are at Disney since we are DVC and the parking fees will add up.

You don't need to make park reservations at Universal.

Usually there is a 'Use by' date for these promotions, but don't see it on the current terms. If planning that far out would call to get confirmation before buying.

I called Uni the other day with questions on annual passes. We are planning a November 2021 trip. I was told that, if I purchased APs right now and did not activate them (by using them) two things happen: I would get the 3 months free, and that the APs would start "counting down" on September 21, 2021 (about two months before our planned trip), which was about 15 months from my call. They then would expire in December, 2022, 15 months later.

Now, if I left today for Uni and used the AP, the 15 month countdown would begin and it would expire September 2021. So, yes, there is a "use them or lose them" element here.

To update this, I called and asked about the timeframes. I was told there is no timeframe and when I asked about the use it or lose it timeframe, I was told there is no date by which you must use it the first time. So, it seems like there is some conflicting information out there.

I purchased them back in June with that same deal. They don't activate until you actually use them...so they will be good for 15 months from the first day of use. We are using them in Oct....but we bought them with that deal....even my confirmation mentions the 3 free months.

No, is the short answer unless the other members of your family are staying on site. One of the perks of staying on property is the one hour of early entry to USF.

Quick question: if I buy a Preferred Pass for me and a Seasonal pass for dh, and we decide to go during one of his black out dates, can we just pay the difference to upgrade his ticket?
