Thanks for all the answers on this thread! I'm in the same position as the OP and had the same questions....usually I'm a super planner but this is the first time I let my passes expire and have to buy new ones to get in a summer trip on it next year...so I'm feeling a bit rusty too. Does anyone know how late Guest Services is open at DD?:confused3

If you have your AP voucher, you can get your DDE card. They just ask you to read off the number sequences on the voucher. I did this last year as I just wanted the comfort of knowing I had it in hand before the trip.

bumping...Anybody know how late Guest Services is open at DD? Also, if you buy DVC AP's there, do you get actual tickets that are activated so there's nothing to do when you first enter the parks?

They are open until 11 PM and yes, you can activate your newly acquired APs there.

Also the Water Taxi to DTD runs until 11:30 PM.

The direct line to one of the two GS locations at DTD is 407-828-3150.

Thanks so much!!:goodvibes

What if you bought DDE after you had gotten your AP, my DDE card will be good for six months past my AP expiring. Will this be a problem?

Your DDE card is good until the expiration date on that card. The fact that your AP will already be expired doesn't matter. You had a valid AP at the time you purchased and that is all that matters.

Reading through this thread and I just had a thought that I'm hoping one of the experts here can help clarify. I'm thinking about purchasing the DDE. We're not planners though and mostly just wing it for meals so it's usually counter service for us. My question is, do you have to pay the 18% gratuity on CS too? That doesn't seem quite right...

TIA

There is no gratuity added to the DDE at a counter service but there are very few counter service restaurants that take DDE. They are listed in a post above, basicly the CS at the value resorts and POFQ, and a few of the AK CS venues. The DDE card might not be the best way for you all to go.

No gratuity on CS but not very many CS qualify for the DDE discount.

18% gratuity is only added to full service dining locations and lounges according to my renewal brochure. Personally we've only used the DDE for table service.

Remember if you are at AK, you can still get the discount at the counter service places there. So if all you need is a beverage, use the DDE. We did on a frozen lemonade and two cokes. Everything helps.

When we bought our PAPs and DDE at Guest Services at DTD, the DDE pass is good through July 2009. Our PAPs expire on 6/7/09.

We used our DDE card this past Christmas family Disney trip, and our more recent June trip. This card more than paid for itself many times over. It's well worth purchasing.

I just got in to the habit for asking everytime we got food if they took the DDE card
even got the 20% off for our refillable mugs at PORS

So did we, in April 2007. Bought our 2008 ones in January - again PORS and no discount this time :(

So, it almost sounds like DDP. The different places don't know the rules, so they make them up as they go along!

Hmm, more to think about. Maybe we will try it and see if it works for us. We're going again July 4th weekend. I think we'll try it and see how it works. I'll make sure to report back.

Thanks everyone!

They give you a list of participating restuarants when you purchase the card. It took very little time to purchase it as GS in DTD (3 minute transaction). You do need photo ID with your AP.

My AP expires in Jan, but I have the card through July 2009. My discounts on 3 table service meals this past weeked was over $110. My party size was between 5 - 7. My friend paid cash for one meal and they accepted my card at Biergarten. I also saved a few bucks on resort CS and AK CS. The card is definately worth the $. I will use it again, at least once, before next July. It sure makes the price of alcoholic beverages more palatable.
