I did email member services, but was curious if anyone has purchased a DVC Annual Pass for a college kid.

Example Member services says you must prove the person stays in the household in order to get the discount.

I was wondering what if a kid lives in another state for college...are they eligible at all???? How do you purchase it...do the Disney counters actually ask for ID/addresses etc.

Has anyone had a similar situation.

ALSO, has anyone used the 10% discount cards tha are available from current AP holders....with the DVC discount (this is on a few other threads)

If the college student has a photo id (driver's license) with the member's address on it, that's all the proof you need. I assume that the college kid meets the immediate family criteria.

Many have reported using the discount card to purchase the discounted DVC annual pass. Lots of us are wishing the discount cards didn't expire on July 31, 2009.

She doesn't have a drivers license with our home address as you have to change the drivers license to that state once you have been there a certain amount of months...so I am in Texas she is in Alabama.

on the 10% off card...can you use it over the internet...example...I am not going till October and can preorder the annual pass, but would like touse the 10% off too.

I guess I should just calll DVC.

My DD attended college out of state - they do not have to change their drivers' licenses to the state where they go to school. They keep a legal residence. Unless they actually move and obtain the new legal residence (in the case of Texas and Alabama, residing there 12 consecutive months). In which case they are not eligible for DVC Member discount on the AP's. The immediate family member must have their permanent, legal residence at the address of the member. Sorry...

I'm with Carol. My DS goes to college in FL. It's a year-round school, but our home in PA is his permanent address. (He's home between semesters.) His D/L is PA, he has OUR PA-registered car, and his voter registration is PA. He would qualify for the AP. He's also listed as an owner on our deed, so he's covered that way, too. However...I didn't buy him an AP...didn't want him spending THAT much time at WDW.:rotfl: He has a 10-day non-exp., but DID spend a couple days at WDW when his sister was there.

Agree with CarolAnnC - she would need a photo ID with the same address as you to qualify for the discounted pass. FWIW, my daughter didn't have to change her driver's license until after she graduated. I believe there are exceptions for college students, but that won't help you now, unfortunately.

No, the 10% discount card can only be redeemed on site. And you get the actual pass, not a voucher - the clock starts ticking for your year of admission on the day you buy the pass. So sorry, the extra discount won't work for you if you aren't going until October.

Thanks to everyone for the responses on the college stuff.

on the annual pass usage - I thought for sure if I order now online , (forget the 10% discount card as I can't get that), but it starts from teh first day of use..

That's correct. If you order online, you either choose will call or voucher (which will be mailed to you. There is an extra charge to get the voucher),

Either way, you must go to Guest Relations to pick up the actual pass. The year of admission will start on the day you pick up the actual pass, not the day you order it.

My comments above related strictly to using the 10% discount card that expires on 7/31/2009.

If your child is going to college in a state where in state and out of state tuition are different - with out of state being significantly higher - you will probably save more with them becoming a resident on tuition than the DVC discount.

Our DD goes to college in Pa, where we also live so no problem there. Her ID's have our home address on them. Our son was away for law school but kept his permanent address as ours. His car is under our name and our insurance. He has now moved back home and has a job here for awhile so I'm glad he never changed anything. He has been able to get AP's with us since he has the same address as the rest of us.

I have a question about AP and grandkids. Our DD owns DVC also.they have 3 under 10 children....if they ordered AP now for them...and we take them in Oct what proof would we have to show to activate their passes...in Oct. Thank you:goodvibes
