Over the past years we have had both types of passes.

Its been probably 2 years and now I am just about ready to go and buy 5 more (SHEESH that adds up quick!).

I am wondering what are some opinions on which passes I should get. The So Cal resident or Deluxe? During the school year we will make day trips on weekends but a couple of times we will take the kids out of school for the day for a birthday overnight trip and also to take advantage of low crowd levels.

My sister lives within a few blocks of DLR and says that the crowd levels on Sundays are pretty bad because the So Cal residents cant go on Saturdays. Do any of you find that to be true? Should I get the Deluxe so we can go on Saturdays with possibly lower crowds than Sundays? I dont remember my experience from past years.

Thanks for any opinions!

Check out the block out days for the Deluxe which is blocked out for most Saturdays during the summer and also many holiday weekends.

Yes I did note that there are still blacked out Saturdays.. but I am thinking that with the entire summer blocked out on the So Cal pass... it might be worth it to go with the more expensive pass since I can certainly see us heading over there very early on a summer morning to enjoy some time in the parks.

If I lived down there and had the choice, I would still go with the Deluxe because Socal APs have too many blackout days. If Saturdays were really important, you could go with Premium. I just know that I would want more choices of days especially if I was close because I'd want to go often. :)

Now that SoCal residents can pay monthly, I upgraded from a SoCal pass to a premium to get the parking and the 15% discount. Deluxe is only 10%. I got my niece the deluxe. Even going 4 times a year will pay for it.

We have started out with SoCal APs in the past and then upgraded to Deluxe when it looked like we were going to go on enough block out days to justify the extra cost. -- Suzanne

It is absolutely true. Saturdays are emptier than Sundays. Even during the summer that was the case.

Thank you all for your input!

I think I have always started off with a So CAL resident pass and then upgraded to the Deluxe so I guess I will just start with the Deluxe right off the bat!
