Hi - we are planning to get annual passes for the first time, as we are finally able to fit in 2 trips within a one year period to make it worthwhile!!!:cool1:

We aren't visiting again until October 2012 (the second trip will be Aug 2013), and we are in the UK.

Can I ask what is the easiest way for us to go about it ?? - Can I order the annual passes online early and then not activate them until I get there next year and if they are not activated, am I still able to take advantage of APH room rates for us and our friends that will be travelling with us?

(Basically I am wanting 2 nights at any of the 3 hotels in 2 rooms - Steve and I will both buy annual passes but we are not going to be able to activate the passes until we get there for our stay at the hotel - will this present a problem when we come to book the hotel, as we won't actually have a 'live' annual pass at that time????)

Not sure if any of this is making any sense - its very clear in my own head, but then often things are!!!:goodvibes - its just when I say them out loud they are nonsensical!!!!:lmao:

We did this exact same thing last year for our trip in July 2010 and we are going again in April 2011. We too are in UK. We purchased the annual passes on line and had the printed up voucher to exchange at the studios entrance. When we checked in the hotel we had the paper confirmation all ready to show but I don't recall them asking for it, but we had it anyway. We activated the paper confirmation which did take about 45 minutes as soon as we had checked in.

To book the hotel you go to the hotel website and go to book you choose promotion and use the code APH (annual passholders). The promotions don't seem to appear until fairly close to your visit so you need to keep trying.

We just booked the Portofino Bay this morning with the passholders discount it was $219 a night rather than the rack rate of $349 a night.

Good luck

Susan

thanks so much for posting Susan:lovestruc - thats great info:thumbsup2

Can I just ask - how long before your trip did you purchase your annual pass? Is it something I can buy this year to get a cheaper rate but not activate until next year, or do I have to wait until I am about to travel or booking the Universal hotel?

Again, many thanks for your reply!!:)
