How much do DVC owners pay for AP's ( we are 4 adults)?
As owners do you find it valuable to have TIW( is it good for one trip) or do most still purchase DDP?

Trying to figure cost for our Nov. vacation. TIA,Brenda

Hi Brenda, DVC annual park passes are $419 each for adults. Premium passes are $524. When you renew the regular one is $374 and premium is $484. These prices do not include taxes. We have been annual park passholders for many years. There is a discount for Annual park passholder for TIW but I am not sure what the discount is -it is my understanding the TIW is good for one year after the date of purchase. :)

TIW is $75 for annual passholders and $100 for DVC members. It is good for 1 year past your purchase date, so it is best to purchase it when you arrive for your first visit.

We have used TIW the past two years and find that we spend less and eat less than if we were on DDP. Plus, the cost of the DDP has risen to the point that it is difficult to get your money's worth. TIW provides a 20% discount at participating restaurants, which includes everything on the menu plus alcoholic beverages. There is an automatic 18% gratuity added to the bill.

In order to recoup your cost for TIW, you would need to spend $375 as an annual passholder or $500 as a DVC member on table service meals to make it worth the cost. We have no trouble reaching that amount in just a few days. There are a few counter service locations at AK that accept the TIW, as well.

IMO the DDP has lost it's luster and no longer makes financial sense.

I like TIW because it allows you to eat at the cheaper sit down restaurants and still save some cash. On DDP, you feel like you're wasting your credits unless you get a $40 entree.

For example, we ate at the Sci Fi, ordered 2 Turkey Sandwiches ($12.50 each) and 2 kids meals. Including tax and tip, the total was under $40... which is alot like eating at TGI Fridays. It provides great value for Disney

And to all of the Sci Fi haters out there... even they can't screw up a turkey sandwich!:goodvibes

I like the TiW because we can eat the way we prefer to eat, a salad for an appetizer, often only water for a beverage, entree and skip dessert and still save $. With The DDP, there is no flexibility for appetizers, and unless you order a beverage AND dessert you are wasting money with the DDP.

There is a typo in your post: "!8%" should read "18%".

You need to spend $500 to break even at the $100 DVC member price for the TIW card.

TIW is definately worth the $75 if you get APs. A good value even at $100 if you can manage to get 2 to 3 trips in. Usually TIW is good for at least 13 months, sometimes longer depending on what time of the month you buy it. We saved so much money over what the DDP would have cost and I think we ate better. I get sick of eating steak every night and that's what we feel we have to do to to get value with DDP.

Thanks! I'm just getting over a "bug" and I think I was febrile when I wrote the post! Corrected . . .

Thank u guys 4 all the info. We are definately getting the AP's, we go for two weeks every Nov. So this year our first week there, we will use our NE tickets ( and still have some left), second week we will process and use our AP's so next year, they will be good for the first week we go! Who knows maybe we will sneek in another TRIP somewhere.

ANOTHER ? is do I have to process my AP's to get my TIW for 75$. ( I want to use TIW my first week, but not process APs til second) And not have to pay 100$ for DVC?

We often use the TIW card at the value resorts food court. There's something for everyone there when we're looking for counter service. We do have a car at those times.

You need to have an active AP to purchase the TiW card at the passholder price of $75.

We purchased our TIW card June of last year and I believe it expires at the end of July this year. Since we have taken more trips than normal (4) in the past 12 months, our TIW card has paid for itself.

DD and I made a quick 3 day trip recently and stayed at AS Movies. We used the TIW card at the food court for breakfast and dinner. We also use it at some CS places in AK and at Planet Hollywood.

Since I normally tip at least 18%, the automatic 18% gratuity doesn't bother me.
