How does this work. We are most likely going to become DVC members with Animal Kingdom Kidani being our home resort. We will purchase the annual passes. Can you still purchase the dining plan when you have the annual pass I know you don't qualify for the free dining but would like to take advantage of the dining plan.

If you are staying on points yes you can add the dining plan, it doesn't matter if you have an AP.

DVC points reservations do not require a ticket purchase to add the dining plan to the reservations.

You simply call MS and add it at least 48 hours in advance. We have been allowed to pay for it at check in, but it sounds like that is going to be changing with some enhancements this spring.

As far as I know the DDP doesn't require park admission, except when you get it as part of a package when it's "Free." When it's a package it's a stay + Dining Plan + Park Passes. Even when that is the case, AP holders normally just get a 1 day pass (the passes typically on't have to be length of stay.) Then when you go to renew you just apply the cost of the 1 day, non-hopper, 14 days expire toward your AP.

This is not true for DVC stays on points. If you are staying on points there is no ticket requirement at all. It doesn't matter if you do or do not have an AP\
Enjoy your trip.

Did you even read what I wrote?

I said there is ONLY a ticket requirement when it's part of a package. In general DDP doesn't have a ticket requirement, just a resort stay.

DVC isn't a package deal, therefore tickets are not required.

If we are staying most of our trip on points, but the last two nights paying cash, can we have the dining plan for the whole trip? :confused3

If you booked those cash nights through MS, then yes. If you booked the rooms through DRC, then no.

Exactly.

If not staying on points, an AP holder can book a room and dining package without any ticket requirement.

Our younger son and I did the deluxe for two nights this past week. AP rate for the room with deluxe dining added.

You should be able to add dining for those two nights if you booked thorough DRC/CRO. I don't know if that is the case if you booked the cash nights through MS but would think so. In the first case, it would be a different meal plan though. You would need to use its credits during the 3 days/2 nights that you have it.
