Annual Passes and Disney Gift Cards

Has anyone recently purchased APs with gift cards? I've begun stockpiling gift cards in order to buy APs for my family of four, and today as I was combining them onto one card, I discovered you can only add up to $1000 per gift card. Not realizing there could be complications such as this, I've done some research and it seems you can't buy APs online with gift cards as there's nowhere to add the gift card. I've also read that you can only use 3 gift cards per purchase when talking to a CM.

Does all this mean that I'll have to purchase my APs separately in order to buy them all? Does anyone know how long it takes for me to add them to My Disney Experience if I'm purchasing them on the phone? Is there anything else I'm missing here?

another option is to open a DVA and you can put all your gift cards in that. call disney and tell them you are paying with a gift card. or you can call and pay with multiple gift cards that have up to $1000 on them

I looked into DVA, but the rules didn't seem like they'd work for me. I have to keep my money in for a while to get the $20 off, and you can't use a Disney Gift Card to put money in. They only gave 5 options, and they were all credit cards.

From what I've read, it's only the opening deposit that you have to use a credit card. Then you can add funds with a Gift Card.

Are you close to a Disney Store location? If so, you may be able to buy the AP voucher there and use your gift cards.

Otherwise, just buy the APs separately.

At the ticket windows, we can accept three forms of payment per transaction, and multiple gift cards count as only one form of payment. We can swipe as many as you want.

I used a DVA to get them for DD and I and saved a ton using Raise/Target. I plan to just transfer to one gift card first for DH's pass since it will be less than a 1000.
