Annual Pass?

This thread is great! Thank you to all who have contributed. I have an AP question I have not been able to find answered, and am hoping the experts here will have an answer....

I booked 4 nights onsite for June, 2014. I know - i's a year away. I am another OCD planner. I do plan to purchase an AP for myself if additional hotel discounts become available. I know I can buy it anytime (at least that's what the rep at Universal told me on the phone), but the 365 days does not begin until I activate it at the gate. So...I could pay today's prices and hold the pass for a year if I am understanding them correctly.

But...if my pass has not been activated, will I get the flyer with the AP rate discounts that comes in the mail? Will I have some type of ID# or code assigned to me before I even activate the AP?

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm pretty good at the other Orlando theme park, but Universal is very new to me.

I will bite,

Yes you can buy you AP now at these prices and hang onto until you visit with no problems. As for the AP newsletter you will not receive I believe until you have activated the pass. I don't think you can log into the AP holder site either. I might be wrong too. The flyer normally tells what's coming up and special discounts for food, merchandise, and items through out the resort. They offer different discounts for different places each month. The discount for the hotels are always available on the website by putting in promo code AHP. If it displays Annual Pass Holder Rate after you search your dates then its available for that rate. If nothing comes up then no AP rate are available. Now the recent 50% off pin is rare and during non peak times.

Also when in June are you going? Next year HP2 is opening at some point and I bet there will not be many discounts. Even this summer there is only right now a few rooms available at PBH at the AP rate all others are standard rate. Hope this helps.

We are going June 1-5, so I don't *think* phase 2 will be quite open yet, but time will tell. I got a pretty good smsm rate of $209 per night and I'm pretty happy with that. If I get a better AP rate that's great, if not it's ok too. Glad to know I can purchase AP now. Thank you for your great response!

you need to have an activated AP in order to be on the list and receive the AP flyers, etc.

having a voucher won't allow you to get on the ap site.

Thanks bluer101 and macraven.

Just the info I needed! I will hopefully return to Orlando in Oct. 2014, so I will be able to be on the activated AP list then.

Can't wait to go, and thank you again.:)

We bought one Preferred pass and the rest Power Passes. Does anyone know if the Power Passes are elligible for the Early Entry Passholder times for Transformers?

I haven't seen anything that specifically mentions Power Passes one way or the other but since this is for early entry and the Power Pass is still an AP, I would say yes...you could use it.

Remember...this is only for the passholder...no guests are allowed.

I hope so. We are going to be heading there on the 15th and hope to hit Transformers for early entry on the 16th!

AP is just a short form that people use instead of typing out annual pass. APH is the code used on the loewshotels.com website.

A previous responder had written "AHP" as the promo code...that would have caused problems if someone had tried to use it.
