Annual Pass Transfer before activation

Someone who bought an annual pass will not be able to use it. It has not been activated. Do you know if the when purchased the passholder name is automatically tied to it? They say it is not. I assume if the passholder name is tied to it then it is not transferable even if not activated. Any insight would be appreciated.

I think they should be fine as long as it's not activated. I purchased an AP for my DD. Her name wasn't given at all until we activated them.

A follow-up question:

I called the Disney store in the Bay Area and they no longer sell annual passes. When trying to purchase online, the passholder information is required for each pass. I am wondering if the annual passes were previously sold (e.g., at Disney Stores) without requiring the passholder information until activation but now they do require the information upon purchase.

Is there any way to know if the passholder information is tied to the voucher before going to Disney to activate? They don't remember needing to provide the information but I would rather know for sure before heading down and then having to buy tickets at the park.

Or if the passholder info is provided upon purchase, do they redo the information upon activation anyway?

I planned a surprise trip for DBF to DL for his bday in Jan 09, I purchased 1 voucher and was getting ready to purchase another one in November 08, he came home from work and told me his parents were buying us all vouchers for Deluxe AP's for Christmas.....so I then had a voucher that had his info "attached" to it. I was able to sell it to a friend for what I had paid for it and she activated it with no problems at all. So unless something changed then yes, the AP voucher can be sold to someone else, it is not yet an active pass, once it's activated then no it cannot be transferred to anyone else.

I don't know the answer to your second question, sorry. I do think that DBF's Mom had all our info when she bought our AP's but when we traded them in we were asked if we'd had AP's in the past 2 years, our answer was yes and they pulled up our old info and used that to activate our new passes.
