We have a 10 day trip planned for later this year. During the trip we have a number of signature restaurants and at most meals we will be a party of 10.

We have Cali Grill, Le Celler, Boma, Chef de Fran, and CRT among others. Each night is a sit down dinner at a pretty good place.

Questions
1) I calculate the 10 day hopper pass from UT at $355
An annual pass is $552
TiW Card for AP Holder is $75
Difference for the Card and AP is $272....correct ??

2) We would have to spend $1360 to break even on the additional cost....correct? That will not be a issue with 10 days and 10 people and meals at higher end places.

3) How do I go about purchasing the TiW in advance.
Can I purchase an AP from Disney then once I get the AP call and order the TiW card with the number from the AP.
Does the AP activate when you order or when you enter the park for the first time.
Can you order a TiW card without the AP activated.
Can you just do it all there ?
Or should I order a 10 day hopper from UT then upgrade to a AP after I enter the first park and then buy a TiW card once I am there ?

4) Opinion question.
My brother and his family are going with us on the trip....first disney trip for his family, 4th in 6th years for us so we are pretty good at it.

Is it fair to ask him to split the cost of the AP and TiW card since he will benefit from the 20% discount. If we split the cost then it comes to $136 and I am sure in 10 days he will save much more than $136 on food. heck an extra bottle of wine at CG could cover that one.:rotfl2:

Thanks for any assistance.

You can't order a TIW card in advance they are only available at GS locations at the parks or DTD. You need an actual AP in order to get one (Unless you qualify for the DVC/FL resident TIW).

I think your plan is good all the way up to here. Just an opinion, but you are not buying the TIW card or annual pass for your brother, you are buying it for you. Is it fair to ask him to split the cost when he cannot use it without you? If he offers, different story. Sounds like an awesome trip!

agree with previous poster, the TiW card is for you, don't expect your brother to pay for it. It's nice you can give him the advantage of the discount when you're dining together, but I think it would not be appropriate to expect him to pay for it. You're not actually able to share the card, you know: it will be in your name and can only be used by you. What would you do if he had to back out of some of the meals because one of his kids was sick for example? Are you going to give him a rebate on the portion he paid towards the card? Really, it's not like the card can be shared, either...you have to be there to use it. So if your family had to duck out of a meal and his family was still going, he wouldn't be able to use the TiW card.

You also get advantages of AP discounts with your AP (which he would not get...passholder discount on hotel rooms for example only applies to the room the passholder is in.) So he really wouldn't get any distinct advantage out of your AP.
