Last I knew, you could renew within 30 days either before or after, for a total span of 60 days. I haven't followed this for a year or so though.

I just renewed mine a month ago. from their website

Passes can be renewed up to 60 days before or up to 30 days after your expiration date, and you receive a discount when you renew! But don't delay, because whether you renew by your expiration date or any time up to 30 days after, your renewal pass will still expire 12 months after your original expiration date.

Something to keep in mind..... If you renew at the 30 days after it does NOT extend your expiration date. For example, if your AP expires on June 1 you have basically all of June to get around to renewing it....if you wait until today, June 22, your pass will still expire on June 1 of next year. The only reason for the 30 days after is for the procrastinators, lol.

Your signature says that your next trip is about 3 months away. The renewal savings is about 2 months (i.e. the regular AP is $516, or $43 a month....the renewal discount is $80). So, do the math to decide if the savings works for your future plans.

For example, let's say that your current AP expires July 1...your next trip is not until September...so if you do the renewal for July 1 then don't visit for 2 months, you've pretty much eaten up those 2 "free" months you get for renewing. If you wait until September and buy new AP, you don't get the discount but your APs won't expire until September of 2015....so you can take a last trip anytime next summer and not have to renew again.....instead of having to go before July 1 or having to renew again.

Does that make sense? If not, give me the date of your expiration and the first date of your next trip and I can do the exact math for you. We find that for us waiting to get a new AP works better financially because of the spacing between our visits.

The latest rules for renewal have been updated due to FP+ bookings...
Guests have up to 60 days BEFORE, and up to 30 days AFTER, the anniversary date to renew an AP at the reduced renewal rate.

Thank you for all the help. Our annual pass expires October 4. The reason I'm asking is the only way we could get free dining was if we got 2 day tickets person in our group for our November trip. They said we could take those 2 day tickets person and take the price of those off the renewal price. We have done this before its just that because its after the 30 days we were confused on how and when we could do that.

Are you sure you can apply tickets to a RENEWAL? I thought you could only apply it to new ticket purchases?

We have been able to renew and apply tickets, but it has always had to be at guest services, not over the phone, or online.

I apply the two day ticket I purchase during Free Dining to my AP renewal every year but I do my renewal in person at Guest Services at WDW.

Now the 2 day tickets are for the free dining for our November trip but that is after our 30 day renewal time. Can we take those tickets and renew in September or will those 2 day tickets not be able to apply?

What if you are in the middle of a trip and your pass expires? for example, we have a trip scheduled 12/30-1/4/15. Our passes expire 1/2, so if I'm understanding this correctly, I can make FP's for 12/30-1/2 at my 60 day mark, which is 10/31, but will have to wait until my 60 day AP renewal window to make the other 2 days FP's? If that is correct, that sucks!

Ours were set to expire a few days into our trip later this month, I called the day prior to our 60 day FP+ mark and did it all over the phone, even though "technically" I was about 63 days prior to our AP expiration date. They renewed them on the phone and then transferred me straight to IT support to be sure we would be all set to go since the expiration was to be during our trip. Got off the phone and was able to book FP+ immediately!

So happy to hear this is a possibility! I was sent to at least 5 CM's this afternoon who did not act like they knew anything about anything! Thanks for letting me know! Have fun on your trip! :)

Thanks SO much for answering this question! I and planned on posting the same question tonight. I have a trip booked when my AP's are due to renew and was wondering how I was going to make my fast passes. This answered my question, too!
