Annual Pass Renewal Questions?

Well, I did a search and looked through some old threads on this subject, but still can't find the answers and am hoping someone can help.

I had an Annual Pass last year because my daughter was there with the College Program and we knew we'd be visiting a lot (oh, the hardship of having to visit WDW 5 times in one year!). It expired this past January and we just let it expire because we figured that after all those visits, we wouldn't be going again for a while...

But now a friend of ours is in dire need of pixie dust, so we're planning a trip with her in January. I want to get an AP again for the resort & dining discounts. I'm assuming this will be considered a NEW AP and not a RENEWAL, right? Will it be just like my last one and I'll get a voucher that I'll activate when I get there? That's what I'm hoping for, so that my year will start in January...just in case we decide we have to go back later in 2007.

Anyone care to illuminate this whole thing for me a bit? Thanks!

You have a 30 day grace period before, or after your expiration date to renew it. So you can renew it up to a month early, or a month after it expires. You would need a new annual pass.

If you order it over the phone, It will be a voucher that you activate at WDW. If you purchase it at WDW, it will be "ready to use."

You are thinking correctly, it will be a new AP voucher, your year will not start until you activate it at the WDW parks.

Yes, and THAT's why WDW offers a price-incentive to "RENEW" an AP.
A renewal will have the same "anniversary" date as your OLD AP (the one being renewed).
But this is only a "good deal" IF you will be returning several times within that one-year period.

As YOU suggest, just buying a "NEW" AP (and not renewing) would give you a full year of entry starting from the date of the "NEW" AP's first use... a better deal in most cases, as it gives you more time AFTER the first-use than a renewal with an earlier start-date.

You can save yourself the postage & handling charges if you buy it at the gate. If you need the voucher to qualify for AP rates in a resort, you'll need to order it ahead of time.

Awesome -this answers all my questions! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all your help!

*throws pixie dust on all of you*

hedgehogcs, I don't mean to hijack your thread - but your avatar caught my eye... does it mean anything? Did you make it?

Very easy, but CALL to order them > at least 3 days before< your trip.
(They need 2 days to "process" your info into the system, ready for you to activate the new tix when you arrive at the park.)

Just TELL them you will pick them up at WILL CALL (Guest Relations at any of the 4 theme-parks).

We just did that two weeks ago.

Got off the plane, DME to All Star, checked in, got on MK bus.

At MK front gate area at 12:15pm:
Walked up to outside Guest Relations window, each of us showed our picture ID and got the new AP's in less than 3 minutes at the window.

On to MK and fun!

Joe, I got this avatar from someone on LiveJournal. She made a bunch of these icons, spoofing on the iPod ads, with Disney characters. And since my iPod has a shocking number of Disney songs on it, I just had to use one of those pictures for my avatar here.

I picked Jiminy Cricket because he's my favorite Disney character.
