Our annual passes expire on June 30, 2004. I have every intention of renewing them. This is the first time I renew them and am not sure what the procedure is. We have booked a trip arriving July 5, 2004. Will I have the passes in hand by then?

John

I would renew them by phone as soon as you get the renewal notice in the mail.

I "think" you still have 30 days to renew, but they are backdated to the June 30 date. Also, the renewal notices are not reliable. I only get one every few years.

When you renew by phone or mail, you will be sent a voucher similar to the kind you get when purchasing a brand new AP. That voucher along with your old pass will need to be exchanged at a Guest Relations location when you go to WDW.

If you renew while you are at WDW, you just give them your old pass and they will give you back your activated renewed pass.

As Carol said, don't rely on getting a notice in the mail. The odds are more likely that you won't. Keep track of it yourself and phone in the renewal during June.

You can also just wait and do it in person when you go in July. The Guest Relations CM has great latitude in renewing passes past their expiration date. They will still backdate the renewal to your old expiration date and charge you the full amount.

Ditto for the don't wait to get an announcement in the mail. We have four PAP's and didn't get any notice when they expired--no biggie for us since we are on the 370 day wait until the next vacation!

If you buy the Annual Pass, can you upgrade it to the Premium Pass on your next trip within that year or do you need to buy the Premium pass on the first trip?

Thanks,

Debbie

You can upgrade an AP to a PAP anytime but under Disney's new policy for doing this transaction, you will pay the full year's price difference between the AP and the PAP no matter when you do the upgrade and your PAP will still expire on your original AP's expiration date. No more prorating on AP to PAP upgrades.

Thanks for all of the replies. Just to stay on the safe side, I marked my calendar about 6 weeks prior to our trip. I'll call then to renew. Hopefully, it won't be a problem. Thanks again!

John
